Cheap Turbo with full cage on Autotrader

used for hill climbs for the last 5 years (in other words had the shit kicked out of it )

Yes, it will have been driven hard, but if it has been looked after that is no bad thing, necessarily.

Looks like a nice enough example, but the lack of MOT would be a concern. I'd want it to be tested and either pass, or have a good idea of what is fails on, before making an offer.

Could be a good way into turbo ownership tho'.

Oli.

Hill climbs don't exactly last a long time.

I'd expect a car that has done regular track worse to have "had the s**t kicked out of it" much more.

Look like forged wheels so could be a Silver Rose. Which would mean no sun roof :p .

If only I had the space.

I'd be more concerned that maybe it hasn't had much use in the last 5 years - if it's just a few sprints every summer. That cage would be pretty intrusive for a road car.

Track work is hard on the cars, but it does make you look after them, & makes you realise just how many items are "consumables" [;)]

You would expect it to have been looked after mechanically, I'd perhaps be more concerned about the bodywork, looking at the closeup of the rear.

Tempting to pull the interior out & go for the Coull / Empson Clubsport route [:D] Once you start, it's easy to get carried away - start with belts / waterpump, then onto headgasket, caliper plate lift, suspension refresh, boost controller/wastegate - of course it might be in great condition & not need any of that.

Maybe the seller doesn't know what he's got - I had someone round the other day who does some motor trading - out of interest I asked him what he thought of my car - he valued it at £3k ! - and mine's a well sorted example.

I had been advised in the past by porsche owners with full roll cages that it can be difficult to get insurance for normal use and it can be expensive so its worth checking out with your insurance company before making a purchase.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Good point - I guess the market for this car is fairly limited (bet it would sell on Pistonheads though)
FWIW HIC (now part of Flux) seem to cover almost any mod, and offer trackday cover as part of their policy.

If you weren't such a nice person I could probably hate you. And, you won't be getting your car back next week because I am going to nick it. [:D]
