Cheap wheels for S2?

I'd like to refurb my D90s and was going to do it myself, basically just strip them and repaint. The 944 is my only car so I'll need some temporary wheels so I can take my time doing the refurb.

Does anyone know if there are any cheap options, maybe steel wheels from something with the same stud pattern? Do I need 16" wheels to clear the brakes or can I get away with 15"?

My other option is to try and borrow some wheels, or to invest in a set of scruffy D90s to refurb, fit to mine and then sell my originals.

Youll need 16" wheels to clear the brake calipers. There isnt really a 'cheap' option now. Design 90s used to be relatively worthless, but their value is rising...

I have a set of 16" Turbo/928 drain cover wheels with good P Zeros sitting in my shed . I'd be happy to let them go for a little under £50 a corner to get them out of my way.

I thought that might be the case. I guess I'll have to invest in a second set of D90s, hopefully I can sell them again once I'm done and not loose anything. I recon the values going up could be related to people putting them on VWs, they'll get bored of 'em soon [;)]

Does anyone know the correct paint code for the original Porsche silver? I want them to match the centrecaps.

While we're on the subject, my centrecaps are plain silver but I've seen them on ebay with painted crests, which would the car have been fitted with originally?

I'd maybe be interested if you were closer but I'm near Hull so we'd be looking at posting them which gets expensive. Thanks anyway [:D]

If pushed I could take them to Porsche & Polo for the exchange.

You could but I won't be there [;)]

I think I'll wait and buy some D90s, that way I can refurb the 'new' ones, and get the tyres swapped onto my car in one go.

Anyone have any info on the colour I'll need?

Thanks, that looks like it should be the stuff. What I'll probably end up doing is spraying the centrecaps as well so they'll definitely match.
