Check engine light codes and sourcing the problem?

For the past few weeks I have a CEL permanently on with no impact on the way the car has driven (an 02 986 Boxster S). As I've had my MOT today (which it passed without any problems) I got the garage to read the errors.

It returned 2 faulrs; P0140 -> O2 sensor (bank 1, sensor 2) Component/funation inactive and
P0139-> O2 sensor (bank 1, sensor 2) slow response.

They reset it but it's the CEL has come on again. Annoying as they charged me more than the MOT itself to read the codes and do the reset. :)

Any idea what this is? I guess it could just be the sensor that needs replacing (cost?), but I wanted to know if this might be something bigger and/or related to that.

Incidentally a few months ago I had a fairly major AOS problem (which was sorted at the OPC so I doubt it's that).

I think you have the answer right there. The post-cat oxygen sensor on bank 1 looks to be past its best. It might be worth checking the connector and wiring first though.

Depends, but if you go for a Bosch sensor, a bit less than £100 for the part. They can be a bit of a pig to change though.
