Check light

I live in Swanley Village in Kent.
I just thought it was strange for it to appear out of the blue... I would have expect loss of performance or poor running etc
I most likely will call Lindbrook on Monday and also have a 36k service. The car is on warranty and has had all of it's Services at Porsche Mid Sussex, but some of their personnel depress me.
The CEL comes on for some faults that you would not notice when driving. For instance, if the car was slightly over or underfuelling you might not notice it, but the computer is sensitive enough to pick it up. If your warranty covers it, then take it to the dealer. A five minute check will reveal the cause of the problem.

The car has a sensor before and after the catalytic converters.
There are 2 cats, one for each bank, so four sensors.
If the cats were damaged, or any of the sensors failed, or even had a loose wire, then the light would come on.
The harder you drive it, the more likley it is to show that there is some problem with the exhaust gases.
The root cause is hard to decide from a light, so you will need someone with some gadgets to check it. Could be cheap, or not so cheap. A loose wire is the lowest cost option.
What Stuart says is absolutely correct. I have got the gadgets, and if you want to pop in when you are over this way I'd be happy to run them for you. I'll email you with my number.

I had booked it for the 36k mile oil service and the check light.
Was told no service required as the service interval is 12k miles OR annually.. So since I had only completed 6k, the service will be due in Dec.
The check light was a faulty Mass air flow meter, fixed under warranty.
