'Check' Symbol on dash

On Xmas Day the 'check' symbol appeared on the dash, which I believe is something to do with emissions and stated you should go to an OPC asap. It occured after I accelerated from approx 25mph > approx 60/65 mph. The symbol soon disappered as I reduced speed and has not reappeared.

Is this something I should be concerned by ? I have a service booked in for 12 January 2007, so provided it does not reappeared, will it be safe for me to leave it till then, at which point I will mention in to them ?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Kind regards
David

The check symbol can signify a multitude of issues, from MAF sensor, through coil packs to lambda sensors.

Was it a wet / damp day when the fault appeared, or did you drive through a wet section of road - if so, and the light disappeared on dry tarmac/conditions then it could e a failing spark pluig coil pack |(they crak with age/heat). You would have had misfiring and rough running at the same time

Only a diagnostic check at the OPC or a decent independent with the correct diagnostic tool will be able to determine the trigger of the light.

Short trips shouldn't be an issue, i'd think twice about any longer journeys
