Child Car Seat - advice please!

Hi, I have just bought a 993 and with typical lack of planning, I have found that I can't get a child seat into the back seats. Does anyone know where I can get one?

The Porscheshop website only has seats for the front, and the booster seats in Mothercare are too wide...

It's not imperative that I take my son with me, but I know he would love to come along for the ride so it would be a shame if both he and my partner can't fit in the car safely. He's 4 by the way.

I can get a standard Britax booster in back of my 4S although a bit tight. Seems fine for 5 year old but when used with my seven year old son his head is against glass.

I thought they would be too wide as the standard measurement appeared to be 44cm while the 993s seats seem to be nearer 30? Anyway, I'll give that a go, thanks.

Check Ebay out for Porsche Prince seats.

I've got two that I'm keeping for the time being, but if I change my mind I'll let you know.

Try Stuart at Quickfit in Stanmore, 020 8206 0101. I bought my Maxi-Cosi Rodi seats from him and they're perfect for my 4 and 6 year old. About £70 each from memory.

Would agree with MrHappy, I have a MaxiCosi Rodi that fits really well, were on special at halfords for £40 recently.

I can't get the Maxi Cosi Rodi to fit in the back of my 993 coupe. Are we talking about rear seat or front seat fitment? I tried one that Halfords had and they could not get it to fit in the rear seat - the base is too wide.

They make a Rodi and a Rodi XP. The XP version is much wider and wouldn't fit in mine either, but the Rodi fits well in the back. Hope this helps.

C2 Cab is quite correct, it's the narrow version that you need. The fit in the back seats is excellent and the kids fit in snug as a bug/2 peas in a pod etc....

On a related topic we recently bought a portable Philips dvd player complete with soft case and straps which can be set to hang between the front seats. Keeps them nicely entertained on long journeys.

Still no joy. Tried the Maxi Cosi Rodi standard and XP models and they just wedge precariously in between the sides of the rear seats. The guy at Halfords said there was no way he would sell me one as 80% of the seat base had to rest on the rear seat of the car.

Am I going mad here? Are we talking about the same car seats going in the rear seats of a 993 coupe? Can someone show me a picture of this car seat in the back of their car? Is the seat sitting correctly or have you had jo jam it into the space in order to make it fit?

I had the same issue with the Rodi's. I gave up and ended up buying the official porsche prince ones from Ebay. I think I ended up paying more than cost price for seats that were probably as old as my car. I also had to purchase new seat belts as the standard ones are not long enough for the porsche prince.

I have been through the same problems a few months ago - trying to get a seat to fit in the back of my 993 c4.
I tried all the high street shops - mothercare , halfords etc - no joy - all to big/wide to fit in the rear.
I contacted Stuat @ Quickfit in Stanmore - they have seats made by Mamas and Papas which fit perfectly ( you will need a longer seat belt - which they fit for you).
Give them a ring - highly recommended .
Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. I actually got the Maxi Cosi rodi recommendation from those guys, and they have not mentioned a Mamas & Papas seat. I will contact them again.
Do you remember the model of this seat? There is a Mams & Papas store nearby that I can visit.

Sidned,
I think they called it a "securio".
Having read the original thread again I should add that that this seat is designed for ages 1 to 3( to 4).
They do have the next seat up required for the 4 year olds upwards.
I had no joy anywhere until i contacted Quickfit.I could not get hold of this securiuo seat ANYWHERE. I think it may be a discontinued seat so you will not find it in a Mamas and Papas shop.Ring them and save yourself a lot of stress and time wasting. -spoken from experience :(
