this is cross posted in Modern, sorry

just took the plunge and traded in the Bimmer 328 for a 993 C4 convertible, really need advice for a seat to put my 2 and a half year old in, Porsche prince looks good but I cannot suss out if it will work with lap belt only in the back or if there is a britax equivelent.

any help from experience would be appreciated, I hear all kinds of theory but would love to know about a real application

Hi,

First off, congratulations on the purchase - you wont be sorry.
As for the seat, there is a Britax equivalent, its called the Britax Comfy Starriser but its not available in this country (in fact I havent seen it available anywhere in Europe). You can get it from the US - its about $109 (I bought one in May) and it fits (in the back of my C2S Coupe anyway - I think that Cab seats maybe different in the back).

You'll find that if you take your car to a reputable baby seat retailer, they'll let you try them there and then to see if any other makes will fit - or check out your local road safety center

Thanks, guys

the 1995 993 cabrio only has lap belts in the back, just spoke to Porsche Silverstone (4/5 miles from Silverstone :)) They are a little vague (unsure) but invited me up there to have a look and test fit the 3 options they offer.

I'll let you know the outcome (and the price)

If you are in the Silverstone/MK area then go to the Car Safety Centre in Stacey Bushes - they will fit a Britax Freeway seat for you incorporating a lap belt.
