Child seat for 996

My 9 month old is getting too big for his Porsche baby seat.

I picked up the Porsche Child Safety brochure from local OPC and it seems I now have to go for the Porsche junior seat which can only be secured using the ISOFIX system.

The girl at my OPC assured me my 996 turbo is already equipped for ISOFIX but I can't see anything in the back seats.

Anyone got any experience with these?

Also the Porsche seat is somewhat expensive compared to others and I'm told it's a Britax just rebadged.

Appreciate any helpful advice,
Cheers.

I have a non-isofix Porsche seat, purchased in 2004.

It is a Britax seat, but the difference is more than just re-badging. It seems to be a specific model for Porsche, designed to fit into the rear 911 seats. I haven't seen it elsewhere.

I have to say, the Porsche seat is very good. We have two little ones (3 & 5) and if both are in then I have a (Britax) booster seat for the 5 year old and the 3 year old goes in the Porsche seat. However, the booster seat is a **** fiddle to strap in as it's just that little bit too wide for the rear seat. The Porsche seat goes in with no difficulties at all. But, as you say, it is pricey. And you'll note that I haven't bought a 2nd - the fiddle vs the cost is not quite worth it.

I know Halfords and Mothercare are both very happy to trot into the car park with your chosen seat and try it out. I'd suggest finding a quiet time and going through their stock to see what fits. Then, if nothing does, take a deep breath and ask the bank for a loan [:D]

Thanks very much for the reply - very helpful.

I guess I was expecting to hear that the Porsche seat is worth the extra.

I find most child seats a fiddle as it is, so I think I'll go for the Porsche one if that saves some time..

I'm interested that yours is non-ISOFIX. The latest Porsche brochure only offers an Isofix unit.

A chum of mine, recently become a father, had to have an ISOFIX base unit installed in his Volvo at extra cost.

Guess I'll have to go back to my dealer to see if that applies to the 996 too.

we have a halfords booster seat for our 4 year old and a porsche prince for our 1 year old - the prince is a fantastic seat for 9months onwards - comfy and safe and gives lots of spare room for the child in the back

we also have a recaro start sport for our 4 year old for the family car - that is a great seat comfort wise but a little large for the 996 rear

Cheers
Paul
