Child Seat in 987?

I received an email from a member today, and as I have no experience with any of this thought it best to ask for your help here on the forum:

Hi Mark
I got your details from Porsche File. Please feel free to redirect this if appropriate.
OPC Reading have quoted me £400 odd to supply/fit the kit to disable the passenger airbag. What I can't get to the bottom of is whether the Porsche child seat is essential or optional. OPC recommend it, but can't (won't) say whether any other child seat would be appropriate. I can just about stomach £400, but roughly the same again for a Porsche child seat is a bit steep for occasional weekend use. Our five year old (petrolhead!) son is quite tall for his age, so could possibly manage with a booster seat? We've spent a few quid on Recaro child seats for our "sensible" car and would rather not have to fork out again!
To add to the confusion, govt web sites give plenty of advice on carrying children in cars with 4 + seats but in the case of 2 seaters, refer you to the owner's manual, which says "buy a Porsche child seat from your OPC"....!!
Cheers
David
