Hi Guys

Did porsche have a specific child seat for the rear of the 944? if so what make was it and is it still available or does anyone have a good condition S/H one they would like to part with?

Help me banish the Volvo[:D]

cheers

I got one from Halfords for £18 for my daughter but cheaper are ones available. You will only fit a stand alone booster seat in not one stripped down from a proper child seat (not sure about the baby seats (you know the ones that attach to a pram as well). Even then this will still hang over the front a little but its perfectly safe. If you ask they should let you try the fit before you buy the item. In fact I would insist that they should. They are normally quite good though.

I've got a Brittax Freeway/St Anton of early 2000 vintage. It was a discontinued model when I bought it, though I found a source on Ebay selling them brand new and boxed, obviously old stock. It was Brittax's model for the 944/968 during its day. I'm still not satisfied with it in the rear seat positions though. There simply isn't enough room. Even with the front seat as forward as it possibly can be and the seat back fully upright (so pretty uncomfortable for the passenger) there is precious little room and in the event of a crash the babies face would slam into the back of the front seat so I doubt any seat of any brand would be any better. I thing that the rear seats is no place for babies i'm afraid. I ended up using it in the front passenger position and squeezed any adults into the back seats on the odd occasion I ferried the family about.

I have a Porshce Prince seat here, never tried it in the back seats but fine in the front with no airbags.

My wife and I are expecting our first in May - I was looking forward to bringing the little'un home in the '44. Perhaps not it would seem []
I had better vacate this thread sharp-ish before SWMBO discovers that it really isnt a baby-friendly car after all!
If anyone does have positive tales of new-borns in 944s I would love to hear them [:D]

You could place a Mammas and Pappas click in baby carrier on the front seat of the 944 (No Airbag) give the missus her bus fare home !
