Child seats for 996

Anybody any advice on a suitable seat for an 18 month old child that will fit on the back seat of my 996 = don't want to buy the porsche unit but do want a safe, well fitting seat. Cheers.

I currently have the Mamas and Papas Protec in the back of my 996 and it fits well.
Also FYI there was a post at some point suggesting that the rear seat backs be removed to increase the legroom. I tried this and found that it wasn't possible to get a secure enough fixing for the child seat so I replaced the backs.

I have an original Porsche Child seat with seperate booster....would you be interested or did you discount the Porsche unit for cost reasons?

Discounted because of cost - so looking for a sub £100 option. I know, saving money on my child's safety having spent so much on the car must make me look bad! If there isn't another option I'll bite the bullet.

I have to say I had a really hard time finding a different unit that fitted - one problem is that they obscure the access to the seat buckle - I used to get a little worried that getting someone out fast might be difficult. After all, it's hard enough getting there WITHOUT a seat in the way!

The Porsche seat does fit really really welll.....[&:]

Just bought a Recaro Start which is adjustable and fits really well in the back on the lowest setting, but the "C" pillar restricts much adjustment (it is for 9 months to 12 years). My 14 month old seems to like it - he had better, he is going to Germany in it next week! It is a bit more than the budget you mentioned (about £190); I got it from Demon Tweeks.

Recaro baby seat - how cool is that? [8D] Oh, it has speakers in the head rest too... "the wheels on the Porsche go round and round..."

The worst thing about buying my 996 was shelling out £460 for the bloody Porsche child seat. Daylight robbery.
