Child Seats - help!!

Hello

I was wondering if any 996 owners out there who use or have used a child seat can help me with a few questions.

1. I went to the OPC and looked at a 997 and the cars have a child seat kit that includes the use of isofix points. Are isofix points available for the 996 and is this a retro fit item or must the car be ordered with them from new?

2. I understand that the only option to seat new borns is to have them rear facing in the front passenger seat - at what age/weight can the child be transferred to the rear seat and presumably this will require a new seat.

3. Can any one recommed child seats that they have used? I deally I would like an isofix type seat but not sure if they are available. Which model seats have you used and were you happy with them? Are there any non-Porsche seats that are suitable for the 996.

Any information would be much appreciated. The OPC had some info on the 997 seat options but they were pretty clue less about the 996.

Regards

Hi there Yoda.

Andy's answer are all right. I tried at length, but the only seat that fitted well in the 996 was the Porsche seat. Most others, in the back, simply wouldn't wedge into the available space. In the front, of course, there is an airbag problem which only Porsche's solves.

I did find a Britax booster seat that fitted in the back, just about, but it was a devil to do up the belt.

The good news is that from age 6 or so the back seats are almost exactly the right size. [:D]

Hi Yoda

I have just bought a Mamas and Papas Protec (forward facing) for my 7 month old girl (10.5kg!) and it fits fine in the back of my 1998 996 C2.
As she is quite big and strong she is ready to face forward, some of our friends' babies at 8 months are still not ready.
Good luck.

Malcolm
