Child Seats?!

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Hi, Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I should be picking up my first 964. Now, I've somehow convinced the wife that she has nothing to worry about as it will/should take child seats in the rear. Now I need to deliver on that promise!

Anyone know what (if any) child seats, age 3-6, have any chance of fitting in the back? I get the impressions that it's a question of footprint/base area. Anyone had a go? Ideally would like to 'borrow over' from the wife's car the current seats we have (Maxi-Cosi).

Don't laugh.. I'm determined to make my whole 964 world work..!

Cheers.

I've a 6 year old. I tried several seats (Britax, Recaro, Mothercare) and the only one that fits is Porsche own seat - bought from ebay for £70. Others balance on the seat bolsters and are, in my opinion, dangerous. For 'Dad and lad' days out we use this in the front seat and it fits fine and he's happy. For family days out I actually put him in the back without a child seat (this concept has not been tested talking to plod at the side of the road yet) on the basis that the seatbelt fits him better without the seat than with. He's approx 125cm tall.

These can actually make decent family cars so long as you're not taking the dog too and going to buy furniture!

Best of luck and have fun,
Mike

My 964 has worked for the family for a couple of years now. My 6 year old lad uses the booster seat section of a Britax Ranger that fits snugly in the back, my 9 year old girl now goes with no additional seat, but the belts in the back run over her lap and shoulder as they should when on a booster seat. 964s make great family cars - stick with it!!

My 7yr old and 3 yr old boys go to nursery and school in our 964 C4,the 3 year old has a maxi cosi and the 7 year old doesn't even need a booster any more, these cars can be made to earn their keep as daily drivers no problem[:)]

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]All, thanks loads for the info and suggestions - a bit of a relief to be honest! I have maxi-cosi's in the other car so will try these out for size. Looking at the rear seats, they actually look better suited to small people than adults anyway as far as the belt arrangement is concerned. Masher, your Porsche seat sounds a bargain - I'll start looking..

Great to hear from others too confirming that the 964 features every day and is 'family usable'. I can now feel a trip to France coming on!
