here I am again, all revved up 7 know where to go..dam rain.. hahaah Can the 968 be re-chipped , just for a little more uphhhhhh ? I know it got 240 bhp at best, but another 15/25 would give the edge, if not more [:D]. I see some well known auction site advertising an extra 35 bhp, Im sure one or 2 have tried, The motor is fit & , I would like a little more rip !!
......Regards Gav

Hi Gavin,

Buy a chip from an auction site, or speak to someone who knows the car inside out? Your choice....[]

Hartech, Promax, Jon Mitchell, there are plenty of people who could give better advice than an unknown e-bay chip!

Most, me included, go for the Promax 7100 ROW chip from K300 aka Mr968 on here. Doesn't give much in the way of extra BHP but does smooth out the mid range, so the variocam effect is less noticeable.

+1 to all the above ...... but it goes without saying that the condition of the engine on things like compression must be in the range 'satisfactory-to-good' . Low or uneven compressions and you won't get anywhere near what you might hope for by a 'simple' chipping.

NB I had lost horses before and after I had mine chipped, took it to Hartech and poor valve seating was found to be the culprit. New guides and re-cut seats, raised compressions & restored the performance of the car ........ it flew along thereafter.

have fun............

ps. IMO don't bother with anyone elses chip other than Promax ........ it is a 'proper' one and the guys behind it are true UK Porsche-aholics.

Re-cutting the valve seats and setting up the valve timing transformed my car also, I can only assume it was way down on it`s original 240 horses.
