So some wednesday fantasy shopping...

Now that the Promax chip is unavailable, what are the other options?

And what are the options for perking up the throttle response?

Thanks, Andrew.

Hi Andrew, Tom bought one a couple of weeks ago, we're going to give it a first outing at Snett. I will report back.
I think I've still got your phone #

While researching chips for my '91 S2 I noticed one major provider (sorry - forget which one but US based company) listed everything BUT the '91 S2. When I queried them their response was the S2 threw a "check engine" light (I assume master warning light) and they didn't know why. Further snooping reveals that Porsche changed the ECU for the '91 models. I understand this change actually started sometime during MY 90. I understand the primary change was to accommodate the switch to high impedance fuel injectors which eliminated the resistors in the fuel injection wiring for previous versions. I can't say that this is the cause of "check engine light" problem but it is a significant difference. I gave up on the search at that point reasoning that those who acknowledged the issue weren't bothering to resolve it and those who didn't acknowledge it probably hadn't tested with the latest ECU.

Might be worth confirming which ECU you have as the earlier one is probably good with any S2 chip while the later ecu might have problems if it wasn't specifically tested with the target chip.

Throttle response - I see the aftermarket cams are NOT for S2 but I see this article that might work. http://www.dietersmotorsp...throttle_cam.htm

You have to note that it’s only USA cars have an engine check light

so that’s kind of irrelevant
