Chipwizards engine hp upgrade experiences

I've got my 272 hp 993 c4 booked into chipwizards next month. Cars done 73k miles with good running oil pressure. Anyone had the engine chip fitted?? I'll b interested to hear anyones experiences

I am booked in next month too. As standard procedure I don't think that Wayne at Chip Wizards puts a new chip in, I think that he remaps the existing one. You can expect another 10hp with no exhaust/cat modifications. It's also about throttle response and mid range torque gains. Wayne is THE man for this job by all accounts.

Yes had my RS mapping sorted by Wayne at CW. Excellent outcome, with printout to pin on the wall.

He said power output should get into the early 290's from the 272 standard (that's if after 15yrs and 73k miles it's putting out that much still) and as u say the lower to midrange would improve although I'm curious as to exactly by how much and how much more 'usable' it will be for acceration and dropping it down into lower gears and pulling away.
I'm driving the car straight from centre gravity over to have it done so I'll hopefully b returning home with what will feel like a totally different car!!!

Just thought I'd add, Wayne never mentioned doing anything other than the remap in the search for more useable power. Cat conversion seems in comparrison an expensive add on given the mediocre ( if any) increase in power

Had my 993 C2 tip-tronic remapped by Wayne on 25 May -peaked at 300 bhp. This was
without any fiurther mods.Absolutely brilliant on smoothness and aceleration.
Well worth the journey.

Anthony many tks. Did there seem a massive leap I'm terms of performance??? He's quoted me £400 as mines a carrera 4

Well fortunately for me as some may remember I had to put my car up for sale, only had it up here for around a month or so as I did not want to attract the usual tyre kickers and morons which seem to be attracted to other sites, however the brilliant news was I managed to work around getting rid of the car. My wife is still out of work but the Porker is still mine!!

Any way to the thread, Wayne re-mapped my 993 C2 pre-vairio and got it up to 300bhp on a totally standard car with no mods and 50k on the clock at the time. Torque went up also however do not expect to be suddenly thrust into the back of your seat as a noticable speed diffrence will be very hard to see unless your car is running out of sorts in the 1st place.

What you will get is a car with a sharper responce (margionally) but more importantly will run extremely smoothly especially at slow speeds in heavy traffic. Even Wayne will tell you it's not all of a sudden become a turbo, however you will know your car is running the best it can be and he resolves a lot of on site problems you may have whilst tuning. for example mine had a flat spot at the top of the power curve as some flappy thingy in the engine was sticking, he fixed that and you could see the diffrence in the before and after power curves.

Expect to be there for up to 8 hours as this guy is a perfectionist and if its cold take some heavy clothing.

Money well spent in my opinion!

thanks mike-good to hear about your car keeping news!!

and looks like a trip to wayne is well worth it

Following on from my previous notes my car is non varioram and one can notice better throttle response and smoothness. The time Wayne takes is dependant on each individual car any whether he has to sort any problems. My car took around 3 1/2 hours.

Back from my remap at Wayne's and have seen a good result....

As we know, the stock numbers for a VR car are:

285 bhp @ 6100 rpm
251 lb/ft @ 5000 rpm

Before the remap, my car was showing (with a Dansk 100 cell cat and Dansk mufflers):

288.7 bhp @ 6420 rpm
259.5 lb/ft @ 5420 rpm

Following the remap, my car is now showing:

309.4 bhp @ 6420 rpm
275.7 lb/ft @ 4770 rpm

Am really pleased with the result. She feels so much more lively, the throttle response feels much more eager and the power is miles more even through the rev range. I can make much smoother progress from a standing start and I don't seem to get as much bunny hopping when crawling in first or second gear. I don't know if it's a placebo effect, but she feels much quicker to 60 mph as well.

I've also got more of a burble during a low revs lift off and a really nice pop on the overrun.

A friend from 911uk was there when I arrived having his Speed Yellow non-Varioram 993 C2 remapped. He achieved 303 bhp with a Techart exhaust system fitted!

Overall, I'd highly recommend a visit. Was great to spend time at Wayne's. He is very friendly, down to earth and has some really interesting cars there. Midget grass track sand rail type thing with 230bhp and 400kg, Wayne's own 250bhp 600kg Suzuki Cuppacino, an Arial Atom and a rally spec E30 M3.
