Choosing a mobile headset

I'm looking for advice on choosing a mobile headset with good performance for my September build 2CS.

On the basis that the telephone module for PCM in 2CS isn't very practical, I'm looking at headsets which provide a better solution.

What works well compared to the telephone module option?

Kind regards,
Simon

I have the phone module in my C2S and dont have any problems with it at all and thats after coming from BMW's with way more sophisticated systems in them.

Whats all the fuss about ?

Perplexed

Me too; I had the phone module in my 987S and now in my 997 C4S. I've not encountered any problems - although 'Bluetooth' would be a more flexible solution.

I didn't go for the Porsche phone kit because of the need to transfer the Sim card over every time i'm in the car - Orange don't / won't supply two sims (As far as i know). I had the Nokia Bluetooth kit installed with the speaker relay, which automatically mutes the radio, displays 'External Phone' on the PCM display and voice comes over the car speaker system. The microphone is secreted in the overhead interior light and the Nokia Button just to the left of the steering column.
No problems with it all.

I have the pcm in my 996 - its fantastic and with Orange's dual SIM (2 SIMS with the same number) its a no brainer!!!

When the car is on the SIM in my car rings first - when its off - my mobile rings.

All texts go to my mobile and when I dial out from the car - it works as if I am on my mobile.

One Number - One Bill - no Brains needed - easy as pie!!!

just call them and ask for a dual sim - they might also call it single number!!!

not difficult really![;)]

They call it a single number sim and only seem to provide it to business customers. I got mine from them this week.

I'll give it a go as well - the last time I asked, they told me they did not do it

Cheers

Aside from the issue of getting two SIMs for the same phone number.

Is the general view that the telephone module for PCM works well?

It is still not too late to change my order for 2CS - but I don't want to purchase the option and later regret the choice.

Kind regards,
Simon

Just my opinion, but we have all been suckered into thinking we must be able to carry on business etc etc unabated whilst driving our cars.

Nonsense. You are neither concentrating fully on one or the other, just observe anyone trying to hold a phone conversation and drive at the same time, the driving standard drops visibly, end of story.

For sensible occasional use the Porsche system is more than adequate, the cheapest way to do it is to buy a standard pay as you go SIM for £10, stick it in the PCM and leave it there. Divert your mobile to it when you get in the car and if you really must ring out, keep it short because the meter is ticking !.

Someday soon using a phone in the car will be banned full stop ( good thing too ) and then we wont have the dilema over how good our system is or not.

Oh, and no, Im not a Policeman !

Nice one Khushy, I had no idea you could do this, next problem is can the phone module be retrofitted ?, the car is 2 months old and I didn't spec it because I didn't know you could do this with the SIMS,

Dave

well I got a quote,

to fit the phone module to a 2 month old 997, already got the NAV set up,

a hefty £ 1661, inc VAT,

sod that !
