We are fast approaching the biggest test of my racing "career" - I'm taking part in the 24 hour race at Silverstone on 1st-3rd April, co-driving this Toyota GT86, one of two being run by Rogue Motorsport.
Would have been nice to race a Porsche of some kind but I'm afraid the costs are just too much for me at the moment. Rogue are a team I've known for a little while as I rented an MR2 from them for training, plus they ran me for one round of the MR2 Championship a couple of years back.
It has always been my ambition to take part in this race and all along I had assumed it would be a Britcar event, but James Tucker sold the rights to the Silverstone 24 at the end of last year to Creventic, which actually pushes this race firmly into the international arena. An international license is a requirement (which I've had since the beginning of 2015) and the cars have to pass FIA scrutineering rather just MSA - which means a lot more expense for the teams.
I would be great to see some of you over the course of the three days. We're in the Wing, I believe, so its not going to be such a nice atmosphere as it always was in the National paddock, and its a bit more of a pain to get to - I don't know if parking is infield or not.
I'll update this post with which garage we're in when Creventic tell us. Meanwhile you can get the timetable, etc. from here:
