This is a nice little video. Obsession, passion, detail - building the 911 that Porsche (as a nice little sensible business) would never build...

Thanks for posting that Rich , had to find a spare half hour of pensioner time to watch it [:D]

Rob Dickinson babbles on a bit , maybe that's what you need to succeed in Southern California , which is a great location for being surrounded by people with loads of disposable income and an overriding obsession with looking good.

Is it a coincidence that both he and Magnus Walker are Brits ?

Anyway the Singer looks good , goes well , and is a nice exploitation of the 964 , ...however not expecting to see one keeping my slumbering 964 Orange Edition company at Spa or any other trackday this year though [:D]

Nice vid....awesome car...love the attention to detail......but who spends this sort of money when you could get a 'real' one????

Given half a mill $, would I? No!! The monkey would though........[;)]

I am not totally blown away by this...yes the attention to detail is fantastic......But, it is definitely built for the Californian market.

Even with the inclusion of carbon panels it is 1200kg! At least 100kg over what it should or could be, blame the californication with extensive sound proofing etc...

The other thing is Porsche have race history,,Ruf have the records with the outrageous yellowbird.......As yet Singer don't have the motorsport pedigree to me, they are an upmarket US custom shop that specializes in an interpretation of the 911.

Looks apart that "won't scare girls", I am sure you could get your perfect 911 for less dough.. As Melv says, an original RS or RSR is where I would spend my £/$/.

But I want to scare the girls!!!!...

....in a Cup Car, no one can hear you scream....

[;)]

-with absolutely no apologies to Ridley Scott

I'd guess the kind of person that would own one would be the kind of person who might already have the real thing(whatever the real thing is in this context !) in his stable and would see the singer as an "everyday" alternative. The term everyday driver to a person with that amount of folding is fairly liberal i suppose. i think it's where the singer probably scores over the real thing in as much as you could, given socal weather , really use it abuse it and not feel too guilty about it. I don't doubt that something similar could be built for less but he's clearly put in a fair degree of development work and for him thats got to cost in. Handbuilding a car to that level of detail takes thousands of manhours . which is probably where a lot of the cost is.
So what are we suggesting the real thing is here? Given the spec i would guess it would feel more like a 964 3.8 RS than an early car and i would admit it would be a very difficult call to chose a singer over a genuine one of those.
