Christmas meet

The Cornbury House open day is listed in the "events" faq, so hopefully it's in your diaries already. It looks as if there will be a good number of 944 owners there, and the autojumble is a good opportunity for members to offload their unwanted spares.

Many of you will know about the annual Titanic Forum meeting at the New Inn, near Reading. This hasn't been suggested by anyone yet so I've raised the idea that we utilise the Open Day for our pre-Christmas 944 gathering. All are welcome, watch this space for more details nearer the time.

Revised to add that the Titanic meet is now going ahead as well, details there, on November 30th.

The Open Day at Cornbury house is still going to be welcoming everyone, so please drop in and see the facility and meet the team. [:)]

And just to add to the excitement of the Cornbury meet, our esteemed Events Director has made special provision for lunch at the Merrymouth Inn OX7 6HR.

The Merrymouth is a coaching Inn of some antiquity and will be open in the afternoon specifically for the Porsche Club. This will certainly be more convenient, and convivial, than trawling the local area to find a Pub that sells grub, only to be told they have just stopped serving (again [;)]).

Geoff will need to know who will be going by 11:00am on Sunday, so that he can phone numbers through.

This is the venue for the R31 Christmas lunch but, for those that are shy, a special table/tables can be set aside for those with a liking for Porsches with engines in the front.

The full 3 course Christmas nosh is a very reasonable ÂŁ22.50 or a bar menu will be available for those saving money for my Christmas present.

If you aren't there we will talk about you so why not come along? [:)]

Excellent! Many thanks, Geoff.

Looks like a good day out, with the Porsche Championship-winning cars on display, Tony Dron signing books, the new shop range, traders including Heritage Insurance and the IAM, the autojumble (free for members to sell those old bits and pieces) and a good number of 944 owners to chat with.

The Club office is open from 10-3, so get there early and there's plenty of time for lunch. [8D]

Address for those who've not been before is:

Cornbury House,
Cotswold Business Village, London Road,
Moreton-in-Marsh,
Gloucestershire
GL56 0JQ

Sat-nav will get you there easily enough. It's the building with all the Porsches outside! [&:]

I'm really looking forward to seeing Tony Dron - remember he drove one of the 924 GTP cars at Le Mans in the early 80's [8D]

Does anyone know if the usual burger wagon will be in the car park at Cornbury? I can't stay for an afternoon lunch but I'll be needing some lard intake by 11am or I get a bit shakey [:)]

Sign me up for lunch, John. I don't know where my engine is, though - will that matter?
Weather looking good!

It'd need Geoff to confirm but I think not. It doesn't usually come to open days, just special events. I too will be hungry by then but I''m going to bring a snack to tide me over! [8|]

I did mention to Geoff that it's financially worth the burger van being at any event I'm attending....[&o]

[FONT=Arial"][FONT=verdana, geneva"]Should be a few of us coming up from R19 - at least 3 of us will be front engined jobbies.

Hi Chris,

No problem with your engine position - this isn't a front-engined event. It's only that it's turned into an outing for the 944 crew as well as a regular open day.

Of course, as usual, Boxster parking is round the back of the building...[;)]

It is Porsches of all sorts (and G & Dianne in a Rav 4 [;)]) so it is looking like being a good day - Geoff is renown for ordering good weather.

I am 99.99% certain there won't be a burger van but equally certain there will be biscuits and mince pies.

Looking forward to seeing some of the gang again.

Scuffed wheel is all fixed and the car is nice and clean - see you all in the morning (by which time it will undoubtedly be filthy with road grime again [8|] ).

Just to clear up a few points. John should know that the engine is at the front in 2 out of my 3 Porsches.

No there wont be a burger van as we need all the space we can get for the Autojumble BUT there will be FREE snacks for Club members.

The meal at the Merrymouth is NOT a Region 31 event but is traditionally for all Club members.

See you all tomorrow.

Geoff
AKA Uncle Fester.

Sadly can't make tomorrow [&o], but y'all have a splendid time and I'll catch up with you chaps in the New Year. [:)]

Me too [:(] but on the bright side I am doing the deal with a mate tomorrow morning to get shot of my Saab 9-5 at long last [:)]. My brothers inspection showed up a huge list of problems on that car so a mate who is scrapping it for parts and paying me 600 quid for the pleasure is a major result in my book.

Hey All,

Just a quickie to say cheers for the friendly welcome at todays meeting (big thanks to Paul for spending over an hour in the cold car park chatting!), it was nice to see so many Porsche in the same place (i felt like a kiddie at the sweet shop lol). [:D]
