ChrisW and His Loose Nuts!!!

65 mat

New member
Whilst driving around Cadwell the other day, with Jason in with him might I add, Chris complained that he could feel a banging from the rear! Chris initially thought that it might be his shaft however Jason seemed to think that it was his nuts. After pulling into the pits and withdrawing from their positions inside, Chris grabbed his tool and began to check his nuts. It was at this stage that I too became involved in the situation checking Chris's nuts with my tool whilst Jason watched and counted my strokes. Chris's nut were alarmingly loose...in fact we were all surprised that they hadn't in fact dropped off, such was the banging that was going off within the vehicle!
Throughout this time all three of us were admiring the pinkness of Chris's new wheels!
We had a great time...indeed![;)]

Hope its not damaged the rims, have seen alloys had damage to the nut holes through loose nuts. A nasty business! [;)]

....the wheels are fine h_____.......[:(]

I still think he needs to check his nuts regularly.

I'm always worried by someone elses painted alloys when doing track days. If they have not been done correctly the heat can seperate the paint and give some play which will then work them loose.

Thats what i think has happened here....unless of course the wally didn't tighten them properly in the first place but he says he did them in the morning so I doubt it (he puts pink wheels on a maritime car though so anythings possible[:D]).

Cadwell is very twisty too and Chris was giving it some so it wouldn't have taken much...the wheels and tyres were very hot.

Great couple of hours though that I was there. Matt even managed to form a huge formation parade line behind him[;)][;)][:D][:D]

Thanks Matt and Jason,

It is really great to spend time with ones mates !

I promise I had tightened me nuts before signing on --- wouldn't want to spoil those pink wheels [:D]

Actually, it seemed yesterday that the only strategy for a clear run was to back everybody up behind you and then go for it, until one started lapping ! !

There were times when overtaking was not a pretty business.

Still places left at Donington (where there's plenty of room to overtake) on Monday evening Chris [;)]

ROFLAPIMP Matt!!

Keep up the good work chaps, but don't wear out your rims...[;)]

Matt, I found it very disturbing when you phoned to tell me you and Jason had both attended to Chris's pink rim! [&:]

Mick Summer, in his 993 RS, actually lost one of his nuts up the Ring. It just shows you should always check your nuts before you go out and it's best to have a good feel of them during the day as well.
