Cigarette Lighter

Any one out there who knows how to remove the cigarette lighter from the dash of a 1987 Carrera 3.2.

Mines not working (fuse ok) need it for Sat Nav and worst case scenario, Tyre Inflator.

Is it wise to disconnect the battery before attempting removal.

Thanks for the info, came out as described, guess what, no live feed.
Life can be very tedious, time for a beer, who needs sat navs and tyre inflators anyway, come to think of it, the sat nav could be useful to direct the recovery man, seeing as the compressor can't be used, in the event of a puncture.
Time for another beer.

Cheers.

The live feed is attached to a push fit pin in the centre of the lighter. When you unscrewed the unit and removed it you probably pulled it out . It's on a short spur off the loom. Have a fish about. I doubt it's long enough to reattach it with the lighter out you'll have to do it from inside the luggage bay and that will probably require removal of some of the blower gubbins.

Thanks for the reply Zhan. Actually what I meant was there was no live wire attached to the back of the socket.

Looks like a job for a rainy day in the garage, with chill out music in the background.

Cheers

I changed the fresh-air motor - which obviously involved dismantling part of the ducting
