Circuit de Reims

On the way back from Le Mans this year I would like to take a short (90 mile ) detour to see what remains of the Circuit de Reims.

For those that do not know, this was a very fast road circuit used as a French and European GP circuit in the 1920s through to the early 1970s when it was closed. However, some of the old grandstands and pits still existed (albeit in a dilapidated state) on the N31 road up until about five years ago.

I thought it might provide us with a nice photo opportunity (as well as stocking up on Reims finest for the ladeez in our lives) but I am a little unsure whether it is still possible to access the buildings.

Has anyone been in the last couple of years who might know?

Tks for those links. Had identified the roads on my Michelin map a while ago and intend to pay homage on the way back from Italy this summer, that's if they haven't trashed it all!!

When you get back can you let me know if it was worth the detour as I am passing there in July and may go and see it

Very much the opposite. Although the buildings are in poor condition they are all there and there is a local enthusiasts club who are restoring them. Makes a fantastic backdrop to either stills or videos (and BTW what happened to the 912 visit video?)

A guy on the Elise forums directed me to these shots. Before.....

I'm off to Reims in late June on a tour of Europe. I read in one of the Porsche magazines that although the circuit is closed, you can actually get your car onto the track, (some parts of it anyway) where you can have a blast. This was last year and there was building work going on apparently so I don't know if you can still do this, but if you are going there, you may as well try.
