Good old JC has concluded in this weeks Driving article that Boxster owners all wish they had sold one more photo copier and married a supermodel so they could have then bought a real Porsche. "The Boxster is a constant reminder that the grass is greener somewhere else" A 911 feels like an analogue car. It feels real, rather than a facsimile. Whereas the Boxster feels like a downloaded digitial rendition of the original.

Well you wouldn't expect Clarkson to see the wood for the trees especially as he is about to become the proud owner of a Ford :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I just read that too. Must say that Clarkson has gone really downhill recently, i dont think hes even entertainig anymore. In my mind a proper porsche is a car bearing that badge. oh yeah im i the only one thet thinks the new boxster looks noticeably different (and better looking) to the last???

Hi Daro,
Clarkson is a media whore who`s pay packet is linked to how contentious his Murdoch- sponsored column is every week. He`s always rubbished Porsches particularly the 911 in the past. His taste in cars never developed after he was 15, I wouldn`t be surprised if he still has a poster of the tennis player scratching her arse on his bedroon wall.
regards,
jr.

I used to like Clarkson but he preferred a TVR over a Porsche???!! Well he did drive a Merc AMG 55 for a long time so what does that say about his driving style...

Does it matter what Clarkson thinks?
His comments may influence the unitiated and generate the odd comment at work, but most people in the know, know he talks rubbish.
I generally go by what Evo says about a car. They like the Boxster.
For instance, JC said the 996 C4S was for posing and generally pretty pointless, yet Evo had it as car if the year.
(They've had Porsche's win some many times, and write such good reviews, people are complaining of bias, like they used to do about BMW.)

Also he's mid table at best in the "Star's in a reasonably priced car" league - considering he spends pretty much every working day of his life hooning about on a deserted airfield, you'd think he'd do better than that. I think the guy's very entertaining but I wouldn't trust his to reverse a Daewoo Matiz into a supermarket parking space let alone advise me on what car to buy.

There is always a choice - £35k on a new boxster, or £35k (or less) on a second-hand 911? If Boxster owners really wanted a 911, they could always have had one. As fine a sports car as the 911 is, it is not a mid-engined roadster. Why is this such a difficult concept for Clarkson and his ilk (including Hammond)? Are we to assume the 550 was not "a real Porsche" either?

Edit: see below!

Clarkson is a tool, Top Gear is spoilt by the egos on the show James May seems to be the only one based in reality.

Incidentally could afford a 911, chose the Boxster I suppose time will tell if its the right choice or how many cretins tell me I couldn't afford a proper Porsche.

ORIGINAL: Dapster

They couldn't even get the photo right - the dash sat nav shot was of a facelift 986!
[8D]Correct and the actual car was a 3.2S so all in all the article was 100% horse shit :ROFLMAO:l

This would be same Clarkson who, last week in Sunday Times Drive, said that the £500K Italian Supercar Le Mans con that he drove wasn't as good as the Carrera GT. Who was inconclusive if the Carrera GT was better than the latest Merc. Supercar, despite owning an AMG himself. The same 911 hating Clarkson who waxed lyrical about the GT3?

Accept it - 99.9% of the population is going to think that a £70K car is better than one half the price.

I know that Clarkson lives in the Chipping Norton area. Does anyone know his address? I would love to arrange for the Cotswold Rally to pass his house. Heh heh heh.
Geoff Ives. Cotswold Rally Organiser.

John,

that not what people object to, he says anyone buying a Boxster does so knowing its a second choice to a 911 - and that is condescending rubbish, and he has said this before, a serial offender.

BUT I don't read his columns normally, only read this one because it featured a Porsche
