Inspired by a programme on BBC2. Have a hankering to drive to the isle of skye tomorrow, roads made for motorbikes and 944s.
Would be nice to get some other recommendations from people accross this wonderful Island. Giime your worst!

Drove up to Skye last winter - in the scoob 4-up but the traffic gets lighter the further North you get and the scenery gets more and more breathtaking. It's astonishing how (so long as you keep things smoothe) quick your pace can get without waking one slumbering wife and two slumbering sprogs [8D] A crest taken at speed which was slightly "pointier" than I was expecting finally woke them all. Simoultaneously. [] [&:]

Edit : stayed HERE ~ in the room Michelle Pfifer used whilst she was filming Stardust. [8D]

Its amazing Mik, nice to do it with loved ones (even if you are the only one enjoying it). Remember the hotel, I think I stayed there at the same time as MP. Same room too. She became my stalker and had to invlove the police!
Ah well, memories!!!

Not sure where in the country you are, but there are plenty of great roads around in and around Derbyshire and the Peak District. I know them well from my cycling days, but they are even better in a nice car. They can get a bit snarled up due to caravanners and lorries (lots of quarries around), but when you get some clear roads you can really enjoy yourself.

Nothing great round here sadly (Reading, Berkshire)

Not so Scotty! There are some absolutely cracking roads to the west of Reading, and going south of the town keeping off the A roads. You might have to get up a bit earlier at the weekend to make the most of them, but it's worth the effort. We've strung together a brilliant route - two hours of hard driving I was introduced to by a friend that will surprise you, and challenge too. I thought the same as you until I went a bit more off piste. I can appraise you of the details at some point... Best to keep this a closed loop or it'll end up like every other road round here... Sorry chaps
