Classic insurance info for friend please?

Hi
I have a colleague at work who is looking into buying a 993 at the moment but he's having trouble getting a decent insurance quote.
Is it possible to get a Classic Policy on the 993 (maybe it has to be 1995 or earlier to qualify? Or does it not qualify at all?). Also, the car will only be on the driveway and not in a garage...
The guy in question has had classic policies over the years on another vehicle (20 years worth apparently!) but but because they were classic, has no no claims to go on the Porsche, but the people he's spoken to don't seem to want to touch it. Best quote he's had so far is around £900 (don't think that's a classic policy quote).
He has another car that presumably has plenty of no claims on it - I know that some companies will take this into account on a second car if the mileage is limited, but I don't know which companies do this.
Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks
Ruth

Hi Ruth,

These people are excellent they insure my 993 on a 6,000 miles policy for social domestic pleasure use and back wards and forwards to work along with covering it for being parked on the driveway over night they also offer an agreed valuation service for an extra £12.00 which is well worth it. My policy came out at £420 with all my NC Bonus on my other car and also included 3 points for speeding!!at no extra cost[8D] They are very fast and efficient.

They were the best I could find when I was Looking

This is there name and number: Lancaster Insurance Tel: 01480 484848 : http://www.lancaster-ins.co.uk/

Hope this helps

I have a "new" classic policy with Heritage on my 97 4S. As long as it is a second car for weekend type use. They are very helpful and been with them two years. Haven't made a claim so can't comment on that side of the offering!

Its worth trying A. Manning Ltd in the PCGB mag.

£423 for my C2 and £443 for the turbo both with 5000 mile annual limit.

Adrian Flux do a classic policy too - reasonable at around £550 needs no NCB either though looks not quite as competitive as others in this thread. First Alternative did 600 mile ltd mileage policy garaged for £475. No points.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I understand my colleague now has it sorted - unfortunately I don't know who with yet, but will post for info when I find out!
Thanks again!
Ruth
