CLASSIC INSURANCE

I have been checking classic insurance for a 993 (1994) (not purchased yet), but have been told by AON classic insurance that a car most be over 20 years before it fits into the classic vehicle category.

So is the 993 over 20 years old ????

Non Classic insurance quotes are over £1000+ per year, unfortunately I can't afford that, so can any one advise me were I could get cheaper insurance please.

Thank you very much for your time

Mark,

Try Phil Dunne over at Hagerty. They are absolutely ace. You can mention my name if you like, I have all the porsches insured with them.

There might be an issue about your location, i.e. Norn Iron but better to enquire yourself.

Hagerty International Limited

Once again, of all the people out there, they are a revelation, also when things go a bit awol.

Hagerty at Silverstone are excellent for this. I have my 1994 993 and an 840i BMW on one fully comp policy 3000 miles each P.A. Me & the boss & a friend named drivers all at under £300. Needs proof of locked garage. Agreed values £25000 for 993 & £8000 for 840i. Insurer is Allianz. Cotswolds postcode; I'm a senior. Give them a try. Best regards Michael Neilan

Thank you everyone! Bert,Aldo & 2Ferraris, job done...the quote from Hagerty was excellent- £263.97 for 993/1994...and yes thats in N.Ireland with Belfast Post code...now all I gotta do....is get the car!!!!!

I called Hagerty. Quoted me £259 and 5,000 miles. Then I told them about the mods to the car and the quatoe changed to £440 and 3,000 miles per year.

Does anyone have any other insurers I should check?

Bit late now but I thoroughly recommend the team at Classicline Insurance http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/

Really know their onions and treat these cars as true classics with agreed values etc [;)]

I'd second Classicline, been with them for a few years (previously a lightly modded 3.2 now my 993). Also worth trying Ann Manning, Ann has sponsored the PCGB Le Mans event for a few years, I'll be trying her for a quote this year.

I am insured with ClassicLine on my 1996 993 C4S - £235 with 3000mile limit.

They have also got my business for my 1996 Mercedes S500 - £197 with 3000mile limit...

I called Ann Manning and no one bothered to call me back ... hey ho...

I went for an agreed value policy with Hagerty. Very competitive (£309, 2 drivers & 3000 miles) and found it difficult to get agreed value elsewhere. For the record, I'm in North Yorkshire and over 60. The car has no mods - interested to hear what loaded your quote.

Have a look at at my website: http://www.myporsche911.co.uk and at the list of mods in the specification section. This is what they said caused the quote to go to £440 and 3,000 miles.

I called manning. Said they would call back and didnt....

Classicline however were great. £353 with agreed value and right of salvage, £250 excess! I think thats going to be my cheapest quote

yep - classicline was the best and Ive gone with them. Very helpful on the phone and I think its not a bad deal.

They are good aren't they [:D]

A-Plan didn't bother calling me back after I asked for a quote either

Being a newbie to the CLUB, I thought that A Manning was a recommended broker... shame that I am NOT the only one to experience poor service !!

I thought that Manning was supposed to be good too. I dont know how they intend to maintain a reputation when they dont even call you back. I even offered to hang on the phone until the person I needed to talk to became available. No problem, was the reply they will call you back promtly. Oh well, their loss and Classicline's gain.

I called MANNING back to provide feedback - the guy seemed genuinely shocked - but hey, if they dont need the business then GOOD LUCK to them..
