Classic Insurance

I have just been told by my insurers (Carole Nash) that they can no longer offer classic car insurance if the car is not garaged, I have phoned a few other companies with the same result. Thus my premium will go from £250 ish to £650 ish as a conventional car policy.

My house does not have a garage so I cannot cheat but I do have a very long driveway and could install some security posts or whatever.

Has anybody else got this dillema and found a solution. Be grateful of any suggestions.

Cheers Nigel.

I had this dilemma about a month ago when I found out that my 911T and 924S both won't fit in the garage. I was insured by AON who said it (the 924) must be garaged but when I said it wouldn't they asked for another (I think) £35 premium, which was the same as RH was quoted so I stayed with AON.
AON: 01384 552731
RH: 0870 247698
Hope this helps.
Alan.

Hi there, I've previously been insured with Carol Nash (recently underwritten by Chaucer) and my renewal last week ws for £277.05. In the same post I had a letter from Adrian Flux. So i gave them a bell. The quote was for £220.00 which includes pan-European breakdown and recovery, home start and agreed value on a 3,000 mile pa basis. Guess what - it is underwritten by Chaucer too! Vote with your feet..

Only down side was a little messing around providing copies of the Cat 1 cert, 6 recent photographs of the car (digital is permissible), proof of NCB on your other main vehicle. A small price to pay for great value insurance. good luck!

That previous recommendation sounds good. Regarding the garage issue I moved to Footman James costing £417 incl European Breakdown cover , Recovery but not HomeStart on a 3.2 Cabriolet Agreed Value.

It comes up for renewal in June so I guess Ill call Adran Flux as well !!

How do you people manage to keep the miles below 3K...! I ahv etrouble keeping it below 9K and this with it off the road for at least a few months every year while some work or other is done to it..

My renewal was £162 fully comp, 9k miles, body mods etc declared, parked on drive way. and 1 speeding fine worth 6 points... This was actually a computer error by Liverpool Victoria... It was meant to be £465. [;)]

Come on people these cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed..
