Classic Le Mans parade laps

As mentioned previosly I'm off to Classic LM this year with a group of friends. We've booked to do the two parade laps which I'm looking forward to. I'm not expecting too much but I've been told that it is possible to lap at high -ish speeds. It will be good to off load all the camping gear and return the car to lightweight spec. Someone on this forum is bound to have first hand experience, would you mind letting me know more, please.

i did the parade laps in my 964 RS at the 2008 clm - it was a flat out blast, highly irresponsible but immense fun. they were ticking off thos of us who were naughty at the end, but i wasn't going to pass up the opportunity whilst out on the full circuit. they may have toned it down subsequently, not sure.

How do you book the parade laps?

A group of us are going over for the Classic this year and I'd love to do a parade lap if a modern Porsche is permitted.

Yes, the parade laps are a lot of fun. Best booked through Porsche Club France, they usually have their packages available from April in the relevant year. The Porsche laps are usually a bit quicker and not packed with old boys in old cronks doing 40 mph. The laps are not absolutely flat out but I did see north of 150 mph on the Mulsanne. You usually get a couple of laps, which are quite expensive but they are very enjoyable.

Thanks Paul, I'm sure I don't need much persuading though!!

I have had a look on the official website. For parade laps in a Porsche you can use "all models until 997 - type inclusive" which didn't seem to include mine? In any event, the form says "FULL".

Is there any merit in trying to contact Porsche Club France yet or shall I wait until April as above?

I'm told that bookings still available but through agents as part of your total booking. As one of my party has booked everything I'm not sure who he's used. It's pretty steep at about 100 quid for two laps but how bad would it feel sitting it out whilst everyone else blasts round?

On the face of it, it's going to feel rubbish to watch others go around!!!

All our group's tickets have been bought so can't benefit
from going through an agent.

Any other tips welcome from anyone with any insider info!
