I'm also going but using the chunnel, which poses no problems for an RS/Cup. I find that a much better way to get to France and then take a steady but main road route to Le Mans.
Make sure you book with Porsche Club France for your tickets and laps; they are cheaper and the laps are fun too (it's not a procession!!!). Porsche Club France usually don't issue their information until Easter!!!

Wife and I could also be interested in this, having done the 24 hour for the first time last year - but would like to be in a group rather than loners. We live close to the channel tunnel, so that's our preferred route - but as Lycian do not seem to be doing a site for the Classic the way they do for the 24 hour, we're not sure what's the best way to book etc so we're with a group of like minded folk! Not sure we can get the tent etc in the 968 cab, so may have to use herself's shopping trolley - which is at least German!
Any recommendations and assistance appreciated!

Myself and Saz are coming along (hopefully with Jeff) and meeting Jean-Marc on the way. We will be using the tunnel too. []

Ian, I've done that crossing several times with an RS and lately with my GT3 which is lower. Ask the boarding crew for some guidance when you arrive at the check-in and they'll make sure that you get a 'spotter' to help up the ramp - best taken diagonally! Good luck, Robert.
Thanks All
I have used this crossing on a number of occasions in a 'normal' car without difficulty but there is a fairly steep angle at the top of the ramp. Anyway, thanks to Robert (hope you've driesd out since Cadwell, mate) it seems I will get on with a little care and assistance.
That just leaves my second request, namely can anyone recommend an Ardennes-centric route/diversion to LM. To be fair I'm sure we can cobble something together once we get the maps out but you cannot beat first hand experience. All suggestions, even the inevitable Spa ones will be gratefully received. Any lunch stop recommendations would be useful aswell. Thanks again

Yes Ian still riding did a couple of LVRC this year but like to get over to europe and do the big climbs.
This year went to Sestreire for a week and did the Izoard and follwed the route they did on the tour this year Gap to Pinerola over Cesana and Sestreire.
Col Fenestra is nearby( Giro this Year)last 9km on gravel probably the hardest climb I have ever done!
We went over for Roubaix this year took bikes and had frid in flanders and sat rode then lanes to Arenburg then the cobbles back to the stadium. watched race on sunday!
I am going to the classic this year for the fourth time. its a great event. recomend you sign up for the laps well worth it.
See you there.

Hi Hacki, I was at a friends (unable to ride anymore due to a stroke) house in London last night who has two Gios Torinos hanging on the wall. Also has collection of FaustoCoppi memorbilia including the Bianchi track bike he rode at Herne Hill in London!
Yes Melv the Adennes are on my list to do. Liege is the start of tour de France next year!Routes des Cretes looks interesting.
The roads are dry now in London so The RS is coming out for a run!
Latest Octane Mag came yesterday and Richard Meadon loves his RS.

Ian -did Hull to Rotterdam last year with the 4x4 and trailer, can't remember there being any issues with lower cars and let's face it, the 964RS isn't particularly low!![]
Unless the RS is really lowered with an extended front bib should be fine, now a MK1 GT3 on factory settings a complete nightmare!

That sounds like some serious riding. Racing is maybe getting in the way some of that kind of riding but I still enjoy it and it remains very accessible and keeps me around the family for most of the weekend. We still get around a fair bit, did 70 hilly miles this am with plenty of people you'd recognise. I tend to ride a lot on holidays to keep me sane, lots of good(hard) riding in Tenerife, Portugal and Majorca. This is as close as I get to the serious hills
Mel
I don't think I know Neil, but just like Porsches fans, cyclists tend to be one big family. I will check the Routes des Cretes for our journey down to the Classic LM, may be just what we.'re looking for.
All
Thanks for the input. The roads are dry and salt free round here so I'll get the RS out for an hour or two tomorrow once the last of the xmas fun is over, looking forward to it

Your not kidding, Mel, I'd assumed it was running away from Ardennes, silly me. Loosely translated isn't it' route of cretins', thats how I feel now I've had a look at the map!
