Classic owner from France / Targa 2.2E

Frenchtarga

New member
Hi everyone,
My name is Jean and I am from Paris ; I am a recent owner of a targa 2.2E which has been in UK since 1982 and which belonged to a member of PCGB. I know that this member bought the targa in 1989 and maintained the car in a really amazing quality [:)]
I have the name of this member (but don't want to write it on the forum) ; maybe he (or someone else) will recognize him(self) ?

I have 2 or 3 old photos of the targa taken in Le Mans Classic and Goodwood, but I was wondering if I could find some others somewhere on the forum !?

Thank you very much and sorry for my poor english !

Pardon? [;)]

Thank you all for your answers [;)]
The car was registered DPB 36H and chassis number 9110210646.

Et bravo pour le français [:)]

The car is an Orange 1970 911E 2.2 Targa which was owned by a Porsche Club GB member, we are checking to see if we can contact the previous owner to ask if we can put you in touch with him.

Great! Thank you very much.
Do you think I could find some photos somewhere on the forum? I know the car was presented at Goodwood a few years ago.... maybe there is a topic somewhere but I can't find it...

Thank you for your help Robin.
I am a little bit surprised... is this the Porsche spirit ??
I am member of the largest Porsche Club in France, and every new owner always tries to know more about his car...
The idea was not to bother him but only to get in touch "for the history" of this 2.2 Targa ! And maybe to get some old pictures of the car...
Can you tell him that the targa is really great and that I thank him for what he did during those years ?

Thank you again !

Just to set the record straight I've lived in France for three years now (I speak French fairly well and as this is an English forum I've no intention of 'doin' a Robin' [:)]), the English aren't that different to the French so we get good and bad in both countries, just because one Brit doesn't want to help you, doesn't mean that all Brits are like that. I've had nothing but friendly, expert help from many members of P.C.G.B. (it's a great club despite some shortcomings - but life is like that). Just for the record my local 'Porsche garagiste' competes in the Silverstone Classic in a Chevron and is the most helpful, friendly and skilled Porsche mechanic you could wish to meet, on the other hand, when I emailed Porsche Club La France for informations having decided to move to France I didn't receive a reply and another local porsche garagiste is a complete w*****!
There are good and bad people everywhere, so don't judge all Porsche folk in the UK just because one previous owner of your car wishes to preserve his 'privacy'. Hope you find out all you need to know about the car and if you need any help from a Porsche loving 'Anglais' living in France and loving it, get in touch.

Thank you "Bones" and again sorry Jean, I have followed the protocol we have with PCGB in contacting the previous member to ask him if I could put the two of you together to talk about your car. He does not wish to become involved and that is his right and under our Data protection or Privacy laws I cannot go further. You could contact the person from whom you bought the car, and ask him to ask your questions to the person who he bought the car from that way we do not break any laws or rules. Once again sorry, I did my best for an owner of an early car, I hope you enjoy driving and owning it.

Incidentally, does anyone know how I can get a font which has the French accents in it, so I can again mangle my written French??

Bones, there is no problem with all "Porsche Folks in the UK", keep cool [;)] Maybe my written english made you understand what I did not mean... I judge nobody, I am surprised, that's all !

Robin, thank you once again for getting in touch with the previous owner[;)]

I think the nearest that you will get to that font Robin is by using 'character map', in my Vista version of windows it is a little program that can be opened when typing in various languages - you may know it already - it has all the French accents. The real solution is a French keyboard but I can't be doing with that.

Thanks Bones and Jean,
Regarding the French Keyboard I have enough trouble with my English one but thanks again. Now off to Le Mans to try to improve my French and my taste in cheap wine. bye for now
