classic radio

anyone fitted the new Porsche classic radio with satnav, sd card player, DVd etc which is currently advertised in the Club mag. OPC dealer - Porsche mid sussex - tell me its incompatible with the digital amplifiers in my 993 which seems a bit surprising and certainly not what the ad suggests. There seem to be posts on other forums showing examples having been fitted in 993. that said i'm not sure I'm too bothered as photos of said examples seem to suggest it protrudes rather significantly to accomodate the flip down front and may not be as elegant as the (admittedly dated) original single CD player which still works fine in mine

Digital Amplifier???!!! I think the OPC does not know what they are talking about. (Unless your specific car has an aftermarket Amp) - but they just take it out.

I wonder if they are talking about the antenna amp? But I can't see how that can do anything to make it incompatible with any radio.

I'm guessing your car has the Hi-Fi pack with Nokia Digital Amp.

I'm sure they are probably right in saying it doesn't have the right connections to hook up to the amp.

For the best anyway as they look rubbish in a 993 IMHO

The new PP that just arrived has a drop out brochure for this radio - and on the back of the brochure is a picture of a 993! - Therefore must normally be compatible.[;)]

Also I note that the listed map update costs are £150 inc. VAT

So Porsche, how about a similar deal to all your PCM 2.1 customers who are expected to pay nearer to £400!!!!!!![]

It fits cars without te hi-fi option for sure. Well when I say fits I mean in the sense it connects and plays music. It doesn't fit the dash terribly well and looks like it was lifted from a 70's car IMO

ORIGINAL: T911UK

Fits and works in a 96 turbo with the factory amp

T911UK: Would you be able to share photos? I am also interested in this but have been a bit put off by the earlier comments that it protrudes and looks wrong in a 1990s car.

Thanks in advance.
