Classicline agreed value?

Just done my insurance and moved to classicline as current insurer wanted £100 more than last year....

Got the paperwork thru today and they want a form filling/photos for the agreed value, pretty normal. However they are also demanding an extra fee of £20 - claiming it is to do the valuation.

This was not mentioned at all on the phone or elsewhere in the paperwork so far as I can see.

Have others experienced this extra charge?

Is agreed value worth it? I don't consider my car to worth above market value as such......

I filled in the classicline form and sent pictures a couple of years ago but don't remember there being a fee. However, if they've introduced an admin fee of £20, I wouldn't say that's unreasonable.

I think I need to do mine again and will use the club method as posted by Nick because I think my agreed value (£14K) is now actually under the market value! Nb. the club valuation requires actual photographs rather than images on a disc which is why I haven't got round to sending mine in yet.

Thanks for that link Nick_USA - was not aware of it.

I find discovering what this club has to offer quite difficult and often comes from 'word of mouth' if you happen to stumble upon it in the forum or ask the 'right' question. Shame as I'm sure there are loads of benefits available that very few people know about!

I remember there being mention of a charge when I renewed with them 6 months ago so I called them up about it & I think because it was a self valuation, there wasn't a charge.

Give them a call & ask whether it applies to your car or not.

Hi - I used PCGB to value my car...excellent service and nice certificate which i then forwarded to my insurer. I think it was £17k. So Boxsey...highly likely you are undervaluing your appreciating classic [;)]

Hi Ade,

Most benefits are listed either on the website under several different headings, in Porschefile or the Porsche Post. You're absolutely correct that it make it very hard to see everything on offer in one place.

I'd like to see one list on the website. It would be good for prospective members as well as existing members to be able to read through it all on one page, or at least under one heading. Might be something to bring up at the next Worker's Conference, or if anyone sees the new Communications Director anywhere they could suggest it to him. [:)]

Im with Classicline and the quotes are great. Ive just renewed in fact.

I think the £20 only has to be paid if the value of the car is over £20K. At least thats what it was a year ago when I first took out my policy. They agreed my valuation using a few photos and info :)

I am with Classic Line and my Speedster is well over £20K , no additional cost .Just supply club valuation

Hi,
I am with Classic Line and have had both my Porsches on agreed value.
My 993 was valued at £20,000 for which they charged £20 to do, thought good value, it was stated in the paperwork quite clearly that any car valued at below £20K could be done by them at this charge.
For vehicles over £20K you have to get them valued elsewhere on the form provided.
The 996 I had valued at over £20K at my cost so got my local Indy to do it a cost.

I'm with Classicline, my valuation (964RS CS) was done through club (thanks Melv), no charge, car came in a smidge over the 20k mark.[:D]

I found Classicline very flexible and helpfull on the approach to agreed value when I spoke to them on the phone.

Thanks for all the feedback.............

I think I will go for the PCGB service as Classicline have said that OC club valuation is an acceptable alternative.

Paul - agreed, a single 'page' listing all benefits would be great!
