If you are interested in having a go at Clay Pigeon shooting on Friday 17th March 2006, at the Sherrington Shooting Centre, near Newport Pagnell, please let me know by email or posting to this forum. Bear in mind it may mean taking some time off work.

The cost is £38, inclusive of cartidges, gun use and instruction. We need a minimum of 12 people to make this work. If we get above the magic number, a deposit of £15.20 will be required, the balance payable on the day. This is open to all - novices, experienced and marksmen [8D].

The format has yet to be decided, but may be a bit of competition depending on numbers - the local Ferrari Owners Club region has threatened to challenge us if we get enough interest by early January!

A decision will be needed soon on going ahead or losing the date.

I'm interested. And I may be able to get the price down a bit (depending on numbers).
Sherrington centre is really good - they have about 7 stands including skeet (sp?).

Can you put Denise and myself down aswell please?

And can she borrow your specs please Paul, she's as blind as a bat[:)]

Would be up for it but that's Paddy's Day and an official cease fire round these parts (only as I will be in Limerick for the parades, and the drive to and from the ferry) [8D]

Sorry John - I wasn't trying to discriminate against you or your cousins from across the water![8|][;)]

If you change your plans..................

I would like to come. Weekdays are more of an issue now but I'm sure I can plan around it.

Still need 4 more people to make this work [8|]. I'll open it up to other Regions, but surely there are 4 ex 320 who fancy having a go? Novices and experts welcome [:)].

Still only 8 people. If no further responses by Monday night (30 January), we'll have to cancel or postpone to a future date to try again.[:(]

Mike,

only just seen this thread, if your still looking to make up numbers then i could mention it at my next club night (Monday 7th) ?

It just occurs to me that this is a cruel sport; what have the clay pigeons done to you to allow you to shoot at them?

From the Campaign for Rehabilitation of Abandoned [clay] Pigeons - otherwise known as C.R.A.P. [:D] [:D] [:D] [:D]

But these Clay Pigeons have been bred for this purpose. Each one prepares extensively to reach their peak of physical fitness for the day that they are needed. What would we do if we weren't allowed to have a pop at clay pigeons? and what would they do, probably just get sent away, unwanted, to some retirement home, where they are forgotten.

We couldn't do that to them surely? it's cruel.

So they go to the Home for Unwanted Miserable Pigeons {H.U.M.P}- in latin Domus per Unutile Miserabile Pigeone {D.U.M.P.}?

Is shooting them a cruel and unusual punishment? Should they be given a lethal injection? What happens if you only 'wing' them?

Send information to the GLA - you should get a substantial grant to write a report on this social problem.

My understanding is that this is simply a prejudice thing....other varieties of Pigeon are left to roam free; only the "clay" ones get blasted by some small beads of high-density material travelling at inordinate velocity [8|]. Who decided that it should be clay ones that get it?

Still - given the likely lack of skill of most of our members in gunnery, I suspect most will get away with no injury..................until gravity drives them into the ground!

Sorry to say that, due to low take-up ( [8|] ) we are having to postpone the Clay Pigeon Shooting. See new thread for rescheduled date.
