Clean the hood of a 981

2 makers products invarialble get good reports - Renovo and Autoglym. I used Renovo on my 968 hood - first the cleaner/shampoo with their nail brush, then the colourant then the proofer. Beware the colourant - it's thinner than thin water and gets everywhere, so you need to mask up thoroughly and check continually. It's easy to wipe off the paintwork while it's wet, but once it's dry it's a bit of a PITA. Admittedly I very seldom take my cab out in the rain, but 3 years after treatment it still looks pretty good. Oh yes - if you use the colourant, follow the instructions and do not fold the hood for at least 24 hours or you'll get light coloured crease marks (ask me how I know!!).

What's the best way to clean the hood of the 981 Boxster? The colour of my hood is black, if that helps!

Thanks

Elliot

I used the autoglym option when I first got the car, was pleasantly surprised to see how dark the roof should of been. Only gave it one covering and really can't argue with the results.

Very gentle scrubbing with tepid water. No soap nor detergent. Takes some time. Then hose it down. That is how I do mine.

Cheers,

Thanks - I'll try that. I'm always nervous about using 'products', even the well known makes, so it's refreshing to see that the simple solutions work.

Yes I too wash my hood with luke warm water and a brush. Despite the car being parked in a tree lined street and being covered in sap it cleans up quickly with just water.

What kind of brush are you guys using ?

Always worried a brush will fray the fibres.

I've used a fairly stiff clothes brush, too soft a brush won't remove the algae I get unfortunately.
