cleaning off badge residue

While cleaning the rear deck lid, Ive got a piece of the cloth caught under the Carrera script and a bit of the 'C' has snapped off. So I need to stick a new one on, but firstly, the old one came off quite easily (hairdryer and fishing line technique), but I now need to clean off the sticker residue and wondered what might be the best stuff to use for this. Maybe Scratch X?, White spirit?, Paint stripper? [;)] Any Ideas?

When I removed my badge I just rubbed the residue off with my fingers, admittedly it had only been on there a few days - so you'rs might have hardened a bit.
Any final little bits came off with a cleaner wax.

Another method often promoted here is hot water - but I baulked at the idea of pouring boiling water over my pride and joy [:'(]

I know you were joking about the paint stripper - but in case anyone missed the [;)]-smiley, DON'T USE PAINT STRIPPER []
