Cleaning Rear window

Anyone know of a good product for cleaning the rear (plastic) window on my Boxster, I' ve seen the adverts for Hindsight but the cost of it seems quite high .

I' m yet to hear of anything better than the small pot of cream I got with car when I bought it.

Its Porsche supplied and comes in a small black bottle.

Can' t remember the exact name and can' t check as I am not at home.

It' s good stuff though - gets off all the mistiness and no scratching!!

If no-one fills in the info, I' ll post it later.

I use the Porsche Screen cleaner (as in Larrys post) about once a year. Nice stuff, gets the screen wonderfully clear, but a real pain to use! You also have to be VERY careful not to get it on the fabric of the roof - it WILL turn it white!

(Hint - Black Permanent Marker pens to restore...)

The rest of the time I use a product that was recommended over on Porsche Pete' s Boxster Board. It is a plastic cleaner (and I have just forgotten it' s name! Dammit!)
Anyway, I bought it in a Harley Davidson motorcycle store in the USA for all of $5.99. Comes in a plastic spray bottle and lasts forever. It is clear, and a couple of squirts on the rear screen followed by a wipe (with microfibre is best - but I have used " Bounty" kitchen wipes with no problems), maintains the screen in a pristine condition. I can highly recommend it. It goes with mewhen I am on a trip. Removes water spots from the screen after washing as well.

If you want the same stuff in the UK, you could try a motorcycle shop (it is for cleaning the helmet visor I guess - it is anti-fog), or you can buy an identical looking product in the same bottle from Maguires for about £10 or 11...

I' ll look up the name of the product when I get home.

...If I can remember to do that... [;)]

Others have recommended " Plexus" , but I have read that it makes the screen greasy and can actually cause it to discolour unless you use it constantly

I have a harley dealer down the road from me so I might have to pop in there and see if they have anything.

Cheers for the help.

gave up motobikes some years ago.I used to buy aproduct made by a firm named Bob Heath. It came in an aerosol can, looked like shaving cream and you polished the inside of the helmet visor. It was about the best thing around for demisting.I think it would work wall on the rear window.

I used that Hindsight product which is advertised fairly widely, definitely in P Post. Produced by some scientist types. I suppose like everyone else I am reticent to put anything on the screen and to work it too hard in case it causes a mess or, worse, damages it. I ended up applying the Hindsight 2, on advise from the bods themselves, to the inside of the screen and it did what I needed.

I think you can get easily strung out by these things, stone chips is another one. The fact is that no sooner is it nice than you get a coating of dust, spots of dew even on these warm mornings or bugs .....

I will get some of the Porsche stuff and compare.

The Porsche plastic window cleaning product is available as part of the Porsche Car Cleaning Kit (Tequipment brochure) but if you want it on it' s own you can go to any OPC and order it from their parts department. Indeed, any of the items in the (vastly overpriced) cleaning kit can be ordered individually.
