Cleaning soft top

Not having had a soft top before, can someone tell me the best way of cleaning it and should it have any fabric sealant applied at anytime?

Presuming it's the same as boxster contruction there will be links under that forum about this. Giving it a vacuum will clean off any bits of fluff, etc ( use the soft brush attachment) but if it is starting to look discoloured or faded then it could do with a proper clean and recolour and when you do this you would retreat with sealant.

Mine gets a light jet wash (no soap) and has been re-treated once in 2 yrs, still looks like new.

As a cab owner, I wash it gently with car wash and just rinse off with hose, but no power washers.
I have also heard about pouring fizzy water on to assist in moving some of the dirt.
Also, not a good idea to fold when wet ! I get a proffesional company to reapply the fabric sealant evey couple of years - cost me £60 last time, but worth it.

Hi Paul
I use the pack that Halfords sell - one spray bottle of Cleaner and one spray bottle of sealer / protector. Have used it for years and can highly recommend it.
I don't use detergent of any kind on the roof fabric as I have been told it discolours / damages the material and the interwoven rubber. I just rinse it off when I was the car. Like the other Paul, I use one of those roller lint removers sold at dry cleaners to get rid off bits off fluff etc.
