Cleaning the soft top cover

My soft top seems to have accumulated moss type stuff and it's very difficult to remove. What's the best way to get this sorted? Are there any professionals who specialise in cleaning soft tops?

thanks

Your Local OPC can sell you 'Porche' Soft Top cleaner/conditioner.

That may be the first step to take.

Autoglym do a very good soft top cleaner for about £20/25 - it also comes with a separate spray protector.

In my experience, green mould at the lower edges of the hood is best dealt with by Milton's fluid. Mould is hard to remove with just detergent treatment and neither the Porsche or Autoglym cleaner will make much difference. Miltons Fluid is a gentle biocide sold for sterilising baby feeding equipment and will effectively kill the mould.

If you decide to try it, use it sparingly and test on a small less obvious area first with a Q tip. Just rub gently to ensure the solution makes contact with the mould. Don't let it dry and rinse it off with plenty of water within 5 minutes.

All being well you should notice the green discolouration begins to disappear. Repeat as necessary. Extend the contact time proportionally to deal with heavier levels of green mould. I should say that the usual caveats apply here. If you use too strong a solution or leave it on too long or don't rinse it off then you risk bleaching the hood material.

After the mould has been removed with the Miltons, the hood should then rinsed very thoroughly with water. Following this it should be cleaned with a cleaner/reproofer system (my preference is for either Autoglym or Renovo).

Hope that helps.

You can dilute the milton 1 part to 10 water which makes it a little safer to apply with a soft tooth brush and wash off with plent of water when the mold has gone. Best to do it it several goes rather than risk bleaching you soft top!![]

Warm water helps but not boiling
