Has anyone tried the Original Porsche cleaning and polishing products. I noticed that you can buy them in kits. If so what do think, how do they compare with the likes of zymol?

I use the Porsche cleaning kit. I cannot compare it with Zymol or Swissol as I have not used those products.

I bought the alloy wheel cleaning kit and the Porsche cleaning kit. The alloy wheel cleaning kit comes in a cardboard box that resembles a shoe box. It contains the spray cleaner and a brush handle with an assortment of brushes and a small sponge. It is a superb wheel cleaning kit and the spray is alkaline instead of acidic, as recommended by Porshce.

The car cleaning kit comes in a silver, chromed attache case - very elegant. Inside, there is foam padding with cutouts for the various cans and sprays. There is a leather cleaner and conditioner - this is very good. There is a shampoo that is suitable for the paintwork and the hood. Again, no complaints. There is a can of ' hardwax' that is by far the simplest wax I have ever used. You can apply the wax and buff the paintwork to a shine in under an hour. The results are perfectly acceptable but probably not in the league of Swissol or Zymol (from pictures i' ve seen).

Then there is the hood waterproofer spray - again, does the job.

There are also two glass cleaners in the kit: an ' inside glass cleaner' for the glass windows and a ' polyglass cleaner' for plastic rear windows - no good for MY03 Boxsters!

Finally there a couple of cleaning cloths in the kit.

Any of the cleaners can be ordered individually from an OPC.

How much did the wheel cleaning kit cost? Is it worth buying? How do the brushes compare with, let' s say your addis types that cost a copule of quid. I have noted on other threads that my wheels are a pig to keep in swish condition due to the many spokes on them (Sport Classics) and any time saving accessorise would be welcomed

I bought both kits together and paid around 130GBP. The bulk of the cost was the Car Cleaning kit. I think the wheel cleaning kit was around 35GBP but i' m not 100% sure on that.

There are three different brush attachments - a couple that look like tiny loo brushes and one that looks like an oversized ladies powder brush. The two ' loo' brush attachements have stiffer bristles than the ' powder' brush.

I only ever use the ' powder' brush as the bristles are very soft and supple so there' s no danger of scratching the wheel. It' s also just the right size to insert into the holes for the wheel nuts and twist it around to get every nook and cranny clean.

This attachment works well on my Turbo Look II wheels. The smaller of the other attachments would probably be better for the SportDesigns. I can post pictures of both kits if anyone is interested.

To answer your other question, I think the wheel cleaning kit is definitely worth it. You only buy the kit once and you can buy the cleaning spray separately.

My wheel cleaning regime lasts around 40 minutes. Firstly a wheel is hosed with cold water. Then the cleaning spray is applied and left on for one minute. Then the soft brush is used working from the outside of the rim towards the centre. As each segment is cleaned the brush is rinsed using the hosepipe. A squirt of cleaning fluid is directly applied to the brush for each segment of the wheel. This process is repeated for each segment of the wheel and then the wheel is rinsed. Ten minutes per wheel.

The car itself is then washed and finally the paintwork and the wheels are waxed using the Porsche ' hardwax' . The result - brand new wheels!

I can' t remember how many times I have seen questions asked on cleaning materials, and I apologise for repeating my previous advice. Contact info@incero.com and request information from Peter Skelton who is a Porsche owner and handles what I have found from experience to be excellent products which make my 2002 Arctic Silver Boxster look better than when I collected it from Zuffenhausen! I hear it works well on Black as well Helen. Happy motoring.[:D]

Thanks very much for all the advice. I wiil definately contact Incero, especially since I would like to buy one of the hydra blades, which I understand are very good.

Picked up a wheel cleaning pack today from my local OPC. Very interesting brushes enclosed, and it does appear very similar to a shoe box. You can imagine that I will be spending this weekend seeing if I can work miracles with the contents of the magic box. I will probably take along the digital camera as well to prove to myself that it was worth it, by doing a before and after example.

Happy cleaning

Tony.
