This year we intend to take the run into the Scottish borders to blast out those cobwebs and spiders that have nestled in our beloved cars over the winter months.
Our first stop off point for the run will be the scenic village of Kielder, stopping off at Kielder Castle tearooms for a light lunch or perhaps if a Sunday dinner is more to your liking, the Anglers Arms in Kielder village. For those who wish to participate dinner is priced from £6.95 -£8.95 payable on the day, or why not take a picnic and enjoy the peace and tranquill surrounding and take in the view out over the resevoir for a while. We will be allowing plenty of time to stop and take in this beautiful location.
After lunch we will be travelling on to Hawick via Bonchester bridge on some superb scenic driving roads into the Borders before turning South again for the return leg, heading back towards Longtown and finishing off the day with a toilet and coffee break at our usual stopping point of Sally’s of Warwick Bridge, hopefully around 3.30pm, where you can choose if you wish to head off home or complete the run back together to the North East.
At this point it will be approx. 130 miles. Please make sure you have filled up with fuel prior to leaving as fuel stops will be limited and don’t forget a pack lunch if you prefer. Route map available on the day showing various meet and stops along with postcodes so no need to worry about keeping in a group, go as fast or slow as you wish on the day it is not a race.
The starting point will be at Toys R Us car park at Metro retail park Gateshead NE11 9XU Meet from 9.30am leaving at 10.00am. There is a McDonalds here if you fancy a coffee or a spot of breakfast prior to leaving.
I hope to see you there, please add your names to thread if you can make it.

Anyone going from Teesside? Meeting at 8:30 in the lay-by on the A19 just north of the Portrack lane interchange and the prison.

Great day out with friends from R3 - thanks for organising Greg and Deb!

ps - Has anyone seen Kenny, last seen heading to Blackpool on M6?

Jesus, what a day. Absolutely Fab (with a capital "F"). To see so many Porsche's - approx. - 24!!!
Eye's wide open looking at all those beauties .............. even though they were with their Husbands [:)]
The drive was superb. Still buzzing about it.
Lets do it again ................. this evening????
We say it's the best Club in the UK but it's the people who make it the best ........... Jack Daniels time.

Wow, wow, wow. Thanks must go to everyone who could make our first planned run of the year. If this is the shape of things to come this year, more please.
The day started with me wondering what sort of turnout we would have and the usual discusions of how the weather could be better with Deb telling me, "Never mind we will make the most of it, whatever the weather, in true R3 spirit".
I needn't have worried. The sun eventually came out. We had a fantastic mix of cars and people turn out for the run, and even a road closed couldn't put a damper to the day, despite our best made plans and double checking our route. Apologies for any confusion, and thanks to Deb for navigating us out of it. Personally I think the A7 still turned out to be a good driving road, just not as good as the one we had planned.
Sadly we had one DNF, due to a dodgy tyre. Thanks to Dave for trying to bail them out with his compressor. I felt guilty leaving them. We all hoped Rob & Paula made it home ok. Maybe next run I should leave the Porsche behind & take my works van instead! [;)]
Once again thank you all so much for your continued support.
Greg.

What a great day, to see so many Porsches in one place and in convoy was epic! Thanks to Greg, Deb and the rest of the gang for finding such breathtaking drive and one that will live long in the memory; I think I've just about come down from the high. It's the most fun I have had since we bought the car nearly three years ago. Following Dave and Amy will stay long in the memory! so will the scenery, roads, the Boxster. Even the little detour with Kenny and Alistair added to the event and it all ended well, as we all got to Sally's in time for cake, coffee and a good chat about the drive. Great drive, great cars and great people.

Can't wait until the next one. I will post some photos of the day tomorrow.

P.S Wendy enjoyed the cake, in between coughs and sneezing. Plus she's gutted she missed it.

What a great organised event, thanks to Greg,Deb and everyone who took part. It was my maiden outing with the club and it certainly won't be the last......brilliant experience even though Kenny was pushing my 996 turbo hard from behind round those tight twists and turns....great fun...thanks

Greg and Deb - thanks for organising a super Cobwebs gig - told off many times by Mrs R for "Speeding" !! , especially on the Kielder to Hawick section (great roads for drivers - apart from potholes) - was following Kenny for about 5/6 miles, slowed down a bit for agricultural traffic hazard, then quickened up a bit -- alas Kenny no where to be seen! ( heading fro M6 I think).
Loved the whole experience and looking forward to Holy Island. NB - Sally's at WB, super stop, great cake, and Mark a top bloke too.(do you a great deal on Tyres he said!!)

Dave & Karen

Thanks to Deb and Greg for organising a great day. Good company, fine cars and lovely roads. What more could you want (other than the answers to the quiz.)

For those who missed it, some pics of the epic blow away the cobwebs 2016.
