Clear front indicator lenses for 968

I am organising a group buy for 924/944 Lux, S2/Turbo and rear clear indicator lenses on the 944 forum.

While communicating with the seller I asked about clear 968 fronts and the guy says if he gets an order for 6 pairs he'll do a production run. I have a CS owning friend who wants a set - if another 5 of you are like minded then you can get them at from www.turnclear.com. Prices are likely to be comparable to a genuine 993 lense I believe (but I don't know how much that is!).

I bought a set of genuine Porsche ones from 911 design in August cost was £55 including VAT plus £6 or so for postage, these are actually for 993.

Hi Fen,
would they be a perfect fit for the 968 as the 993 ones aren't a good fit,

Cheers,
Stuart.

If you buy a set from design 911 as I did (& Richard, above), they have made slight alterations to them at the rear so they're a good fit. I know fitting these causes a big debate, but I think (along with some clear indicators on the side) they really modernise the look of the car. Perhaps its why many 911 and Boxster owners go for the clear light upgrade too!

I may be interested if they are a perfect fit.

While the 993 ones do update the look of the car on close insepction they never look as good because of the fit.

I'd be interested too if the fit is good and they don't leak.

My past experience with non-oem lights is that they're not often of the highest quality.

I'm happy to be proved wrong though.

edited to make sense.

If the quality & fit are perfect and the price is right then count me in as well!

James.

Sorry guys, I haven't been keeping an eye on this one. I expect they would be an perfect fit - no point the guy making what's already there if they don't fit properly - but I'll ask him.

Again, also if there are an identical replica of the original 968 lights, I have held back on the 993 ones because of the differences in them.

I would be very interested, any idea of costs?

I would also consider replacement side indicators from the same acrylic source, also if identically matched.

Any ideas too on the timeframe for these?

Just been in touch with the MD at turnclear and here's his reply:

Hello Steve,

Thank you for your mail!
Clear 968 indicators is my very last project, and i think they will be ready for sale in one month from now.
Not sure about the price, depends on how advanced molds i need to manufacture, and how much plastic each unit require.

All i can say is that a turnclear lens is much more clear than the 993 piece. Fitment will be exactly as the orginal amber 968 lens.

Please contact me again within 4 weeks, and iäll get back to you with estimated timeframe.

I currently have the 993 units on mine but being a 'perfectionist' I'm not 100% happy with them. I'll be very eager to get my hands on the new ones. I may have been one of the first to try the 993 units quite a few years ago when I visited Matthew at type911.co.uk to try them out. He took a pic of my car and posted them on his site and sold them as 968 clear front lenses.

Cheers,

I have emailed Joakim Jansson at Turnclear a couple of times since the original email above but have not received any replies as yet. Will keep trying and keep you posted.

Cheers,
Steve
