clear front indicators

They are not a cheap item @ £110 per pair + vat & delivery

That's about 10% of the value of the car. Better trawl ebay.

Thanks

(Why - did Fen have problems?)

Maybe as an individual order they may be ok.
Awhile back Fen was good enough to arrange a group buy. Communication was sparse (with the seller) and goods were delivered in dribs and drabs.

Better trawl ebay.

Just to add. Some crazy fools were bidding on e-bay for a pair of rear clusters with clear indicators already in. The lucky winning bidder paid about £330.00[][:(] for them!

There is also a gal in the USA that is going to make clear lenses for Rennlisters for fairly cheap. I think she does it with vacuum of resin mix and then pressurizing the cast it so should be pretty good quality. A group buy type of deal. Big problem is she had her shop which was also part of her home catch fire and burn down. Pretty much to the ground. That threw her for a loop.

I think she has new lenses from guys to make the master molds and go from there. So you may want to go to Rennlist and check that out. I think she was considering a "group buy" at only 5 copies of each. Well, there is way over that in interest in the USA so you guys could jump into the build.

Check it out. I have nothing to do with this, just passing info along.

Joakim at Turnclear is difficult to deal with. I only have an email address for him and it takes weeks to get a reply sometimes. As it stands the group buy started in October and fully paid for in mid December is still short 3 pairs of rears and one Turbo front.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]On the bright side (for those still waiting, myself included as my rears went to a 'punter') he mailed me out of the blue last week to ask what I was still missing so I think they'll come, hopefully soon.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Richard Marsden got some quite quickly from another guy in Sweden but I don't know the details. He is on here but I forget his username.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

I'm not exactly sure how the Swede deal works on the clear lenses. The Finns included me in their group buy of clear lenses a couple years ago when it was first getting off the ground and I just let Olli Snellman take care of all the details and send me the lenses.

From what I understand, Joakim is just a salesman for the lenses. And by all reports, not a very good one. Someone else actually makes them and that is the peoson you need to get to if you are considering clear lenses out of Sweden.

Someone else in Germany did a run of 100 sets of lenses for the Turbo/S2 and North American style side markers.

I do know where the original Bosch molds for the lenses are - Olli S. tracked them down. But Bosch won't run them in clear.

I can indeed supply clear fronts but only for N/A not S.2 and turbo. Unfortunately there seems to be some sort of 'closed ' deal between the maker and Joakim (Turnclear) for those.

I also have clear rear indicator and fog lenses and will soon be offering complete replacement clusters and later on an exchange basis. The first set may appear on eBay in the next week or so, but in the meantime if anybody wants any close up pics of a conversion(not yet fitted on car) or any further info, you can mail me at richardmarsden@freeuk.com ...........end of sales pitch !

Followers of Rennlist will know that an American company http://www.klearz.com has been tooling up to produce the clear front indicator lenses for $80 each. See this thread for details:

Yes, That is the gal I was talking about in the earlier message.

But as I noted, she had a big fire so not too sure when she will be up, running and shipping. Plus, some Rennlisters were major assholes to her so may not be at the top of her to do list.

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Surely not! [8D][FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Present Rennlisters on here excepted of course but it does seem quite widespread on there. I'm probably the biggest asshole on here but I don't think I'm that bad by a country mile.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

It is sort of sad. Here is a girl that is by all accounts is producing quality products for other car makes and they jump on her like she was a con artist.

Well, if you can survive Rennlist you must be doing something right.

........... I'm probably the biggest asshole on here........

I think you are doing yourself an injustice Fen. Straight talking, to the point, call a spade a spade, perhaps; but I couldn't agree on the asshole bit. I could always set up a poll to clarify the point if you want. :ROFLMAO:

Sorry chaps, I've gone way OT now.

Back on course - I have been very pleased with the clear fronts that Fen organised for Beaky. I even got £10+ back for the orange ones on ebay. [:)].

Well as long as we are polite to her, maybe we can get an extra discount. Which of us has the best plummy English accent to place our orders (US gals seem to like that sort of thing [;)])

She recently posted an example first casting so I think production is imminent [:)]
