Clear Lights

Ive been looking into fitting clear lights to the 964 to replace the orange indicators and side repeaters. The prices of the lights seems to vary from about £45-£100 odd. The quality also looks to vary.

Im tempted to buy the official Porsche ones in the hope that they look a bit "clearer" and match better with the driving lights. Some of them seem, to be a bit "white" or "cloudy".

Does anyone have the official clears and could they provide a picture or comment on quality? It would be even better if it was a Guards Red car

Chris,

I'm pretty sure you'll find that the only "official" Porsche lights are amber. The factory never offered clear indicators/side markers for the 964.

I've certainly seen some really poor ones which have gone "milky" over time but I haven't got any recommendation as to whose might be better than any others I'm afraid.

Chris,

Checking on PET it definitely looks to be only one type of indicator - amber - so where Jasmine reckon they've got a "genuine" Porsche set from beats me!!! They obviously want strong money too - when you consider that you can buy a set from Design 911 (here) for less than £60. You could have 2 sets for the Jasmine price!!!

I have clear lenses on my 964. If I remember correctly they were manufactured by the same manufacture as the originals....Bosch I think (I would have to check to confirm what manufacturer). Mine are 100% as per original ie same logos etc but just clear. I have never had any issues with them although I did pay about 80 pounds for them a few years ago.

Hmm, I dont mind paying the £100 if they are as clear as the originals. Some of the ones that ive seen must have either started out poor or faded badly and spoil the look [:(]

I will contact the supplier before ordering, however it may be next month now, as ive just ordred some shiney new wheels (accidentally [;)])

Personally I think the original orange lenses on the car in your avatar look great [:)]

My clear ones which cost about 70 quid, are starting to go milky after a couple of years. Against a white car the effect is not so noticeable but I might end up putting my orange ones back on if they get worse.

Oops, must change that avatar! Its not actually my car, just the inspiration for me buying my 964. I'll get a picture of my own up there ASAP (Guards Red).

I put a set on my last 964t , i think from design 911 , and the quality was not good.
This time im sticking with originals as they look ok on a black car.

Cheers bud,

Im going to see how the car "looks" when the new wheels are refurbed and on. I'll come to a decision before the Raby Castle show, so she's lookng at her best [:)]
