Climate control u/s

I have seen a number of times where heating/cooling cannot be achieved due to a small plastic clip coming apart on manual heating??? Do I assume the manual heating is a slider??

I have a/c with climate control so my heating and cooling is by a round knob that doesnt seem to be fixed to anything directly so assume it interfaces with the temperature thyristor which then regulates the temperature?

At present it is all cooling so I wondered if there was something I need to know or if anyone has experienced this issue.

The 'small plastic clip' is part of the heater itself, not the control unit.

You move the controls & that electronically controls servos in the heater unit. The flap for heat is controlled via a push-rod which can come undone at one end.

Look under the passenger side (you may need to remove the glovebox) & you'll see various widgets on the side of the heater unit.

I had a problem with heat on my car when I got it that was a result of a failed temp sensor (ie an electrical problem not a mechamical one). My heater gave full heat when I pushed the windscreen demist button but otherwise was only lukewarm at best because the heater thought it was already really hot inside the car.

Hi Riverside, thanks.

I`ll try out moving the control and watching the flap/rod to see if it reacts (or if the clip is missing)
