Climate Control unit removal - and Hi!

My first post - so Hello to you all!!

I've got the common problem on my 993 where the little fan at the back of the Climate Control unit isn't running, so the cabin temperature drops on long trips.

Have managed to wrestle the unit out of the dashboard - with the help of some headunit removal keys, only to find it fouls the indicator and on board computer stalks on the steering column....

Is there an easy way to get round this that I'm missing, or do I really have to dismantle the steering column to get the CC unit out??

There's just about enough flex in the indicator and OBC stalks to pull the heater unit through the gap between them and slightly to the left as it comes out (on a RHD car).

I had mine out recently because the heater would blow hot on anything other than the full cold position, until about 5 miles into a journey and then gradually cool until I needed the dial at the '12 o'clock' position for comfortable winter heating. My air sampling fan is working OK, so I guess I'll live with this quirk.

Thanks Stuart,

You were exactly right - gave it one more tug than I was prepared to last night, and out it came. Darn tight though!!
