Clocks intermittent

OK so my clocks were working and the odd time would flicker off and come back.

Only now they are never on and have the odd flicker to come back.

It usually only happens when the car is turning over on the starter.

I've took the clocks out, unplugged them, cleaned all the connections, checked for any signs of damage and re-installed. No joy.

I've noticed once I put the key in, one click to the right brings the battery on, the next bit doesn't click over to ignition on, just slides round, then on to the starter.

Is it something in the ignition barrel that could be stuck or worn?

Obviously I'm fairly new to these cars so I'm unsure but maybe one of you lovely chaps could help?

Sounds like the switch is going - not sure if just the barrel will do or if you need a whole new switch. Perhaps a locksmith with auto experience can help you out here. As for the clocks - I suggest you try wiggling the key back and forth slowly when its in the ON position - not too much - just enough to take the slack out of the switch - and see if your clocks come to life. From your description I would expect to see them operating.
