Closing in on a target...

Gents,

some advice please! I've been out looking at various prospects in my search for a decent 944 and have had a close look at a few. I have widened the net (a bit) to include 951s as I have learned that they are not eye-wateringly costly to insure and having discovered that the one which scared the **** out of me at Goodwood had been 'aggressively' chipped.

So: How long will an original equipoment turbocharger last?
Is there a better/cheaper/modern alternative which does not require extensive replumbing? What should the oil pressure be at hot idle?
What is a reasonable compression reading?

Thank you!

It all depends on servicing and use but we have a few turbos on the forum with turbochargers that were over 150k miles before replacement.

There are many bolt on turbochargers to fit our cars - Promax, Vitesse and SPS to name a few.

When fully hot the oil pressure will be around 3-4 bar at idle and 5 bar when driving along

Got to disagree here If you ever get a chance to drive one jump at it Drove both a Flying spur and Conti GT last year WOW! Wife and two kids in back discussing carpet choice (as if) me upfront with speedo going rapidly past 140 like I'm sitting in my favourite armchair surreal but fun
