For those that weren't there... less than a week before the event the local Chipsaway guy had an accident, writing off his van, and leaving him incapacitated. We were very grateful that despite short notice, and hence no chance for preparation, James Alderson very kindly stepped in, traveling up from Torquay to take his place.
A very informative discussion ensued, with James very open about what could be repaired, and where other techniques (or even simple DIY "cheats"), should be applied. A lively question and answer session followed, and it was nice to hear I'm not the only one that has never been able to get filler flat! (The secret is to come to events such as these and learn the methods from the experts!!!)
John Drake continued the evening with a wonderful demonstration of the Zymol product range, with a polished commentary from his wife Fiona; we look forward to seeing them again at our concour, where hopefully they will have some of their products with them, for those that want to stock up following the demonstration - just don't expect them to demonstrate on your car then!
Finally, Noel had Ted and Janet Foxwell's 968 on the ramp, and went through how he tackles an air-con re-gas, what to look for, and the differences between the multitude of available gasses.
The event was very well attended, and thanks to all those that did come along and make it a very successful evening, and obviously thanks again to Noel, James, John, Fiona, et all.
I think we could have done with a little more time (and slightly warmer weather!), as our experts were exceedingly knowledgeable in their field, any of them could have filled a club evening by themselves, none the less, I think every-one went home feeling it had been a very worthwhile evening out.
Thanks to all,
Tref.
