club register,how it works

Just thought i would re clarify how the club register works.
When you join the club or change your car on the club data,i should get a letter from the club saying you now have a rs.I then send out to you a register doc which you fill in and return to me,sadly i dont get this happening very often, and people assume because they have informed the club of there new rs,that they are now on the register.
The only time it goes on to the register is when you have returned a register form to me,i can then add it to the 993rs register data base. This data base works around the chassis number for protection of the id of these cars.As has happened in the past and deff in the future as values rise, some of these cars will get cloned!! If not protected with accurate records to prove which is the original car.
I fought hard to keep the 993rs register of the club data base as did some other specialist registers,to ensure the security and integrity of the cars stay safe.
What the register does do,is help potential rs enthusiasts to find a correct and straight car, with good histories etc.It certainly also helps you with a good track record of your car,and for the car alone.

I will try and upload a register form on to this site,so that you may then print off or email back to me.
Or simply email mail me,and i will send you one by return, apply to paul.howells@btconnect.com
The other problem is,people consult me when buying a car,but sedomly say they have sold it and who they have passed it on to ,which is a shame.
I also have a pile of register stickers which are unique to our register, which i will gladly send out once you have registered. They are not a corperate image sticker ,but a nice N/ring outline with a 993rs in the middle of.it.Very apt for the car i thought!
I have a list of numbers of the uk 47 supplied cars from porsche,of which i have slowly been adding colours to,and the register form then also confirms specs, options fitted etc
I also have a list of around 50 lhd cars and the couple of private import rhd cars, and the dreaded black list with written off, badly damaged, stolen recovered cars etc
I have included all cup,gt2 and rsr.
Its great to see the list growing of colours and cars etc, there is also a world register which i sent a lot of info to,to help compile the list of the 1170 cars produced.
When i get chance i intend to spend a couple of days at the museum and trace all build info on all cars produced, with some help from porsche.
Regards
Paul

Fab, please send me a form [;)]

As for the history from Porsche, would it be possible to build a database as Martin has for the 964RS ?

It would be possible to build a data base like the 964,but i am no computer person.I type with 2 fingers, and also dyslexic in certain areas ,which makes my computer work very slow.It is also only as accurate as the content,if you know what i mean.
The most important part is making it secure, and not available to fall into the wrong hands.

Have you heard about the American person who purchased a 73rs from a so called reputable dealer ,and sent it to the factory to be restored, and later to be informed by the factory it was not a rs!!

Exactly, I am cautious about quoting chassis numbers and specific details about cars on the internet.....also the number of times you see a car (not specifically 993RS) discussed negatively on a forum, only to find out it is a different car.

I think some of the proprietary details of the cars should be limited to those who need or have a genuine interest to know rather than being freely available to absolutely anyone.

You only have to look at Wikipedia from time to time to see funny almost libelous updates, which some take to be fact, just because a supposed detail is posted on the internet it isn't neccesarily true. [;)]

Can't disagree ... which probably says rather a lot about the way Martin runs our info on the 964RS database [;)]

Thankyou Martin ... I couldn't do it either
